TThere is a new law in my city. I must be owner of the car or motorbike if I'm driving it. If not, I will be fined! I can't borrow car or motorbike of others. Is there same law in your country? Do you think that this law is useful?

If that's the rule then no one will be able to hire drivers for their cars and people will definitely become jobless. I don't think there is any law like this any where in the world except like one i came to know about your country. What has made the government to make such decision or the rule which is of no use at all.

hi sishy7, yes the point is good. But the people can solve this problem by registering the cars on their family members name. Each car on ones name .The government can get more money by registration . And what about the people who have travel agencies, they have many cars. what will have to them .The need to close their business.

Oh I see now; they want to lower the number of cars on the street by counting that less people will be on the street when only owners can legally drive... One person may owns up to three cars, for instance. Before the law, all three cars may be on the street at the same time, say, driven by the owner, his son, and his driver. But because of the law, only one of his car will be on the street because only the owner himself can drive one car at a time...

I don't know what is the purpose of that law. But to me, it is a ridiculous law. It is also a discriminating law as people who are not financially able to buy a car or motorbike will not be allow to drive one. What about the people who work as drivers? What about the family members, does it mean that they are not allowed to drive the vehicle that belongs to their parents? I really would like to know why and how this law comes about.

Hi. If that law will be implemented in our country, I'm sure many drivers will lose their job. Basically because most of them do not own the car that they are driving. They are just employees of some operators.

The law is the driver must be insured to drive the car he or she drives. Insurance can be for a driver to drive a car for a temporary time. Usually car insurance is bought for a year or by the month. A person that drives a car as a learner must have a learners driving license and he with an instructor. It could be an approved driving instructor or a friend/ family member that has had a full driving license for more than 3 years. My brother-in-law is insured to drive is own car and a car that his work own. A bus driver would be insured to drive any of the companies buses. While my mom's car was being repaired she was lent a car to use. She got temporary car insurance to cover her at that time. The law of your country sounds useful to me. Here the police can give penalty points on peoples driving license for driving offenses.

No, we don't have that law in our country. Hopefully it no one will pass that kind of law because there are a lot of cars that are family owned and all the members who knows how to drive are allowed to use it. Also, our jeepney drivers will lose their jobs if that is the case.

Unbelievable. I am sure after the imposing of this new rule, the selling of vehicles especially the cars and the motorcycles will increase tremendously. However, I do not think it is a wise policy at your place because it will increase the burden of the people. At my country, there isn't any rule same as this and hopefully it will never happen here because I personally feel that it is a silly rule. I guess the main purpose of this new rule at your place is to help the sales of vehicles at your place and your government just ignores the difficulty of the people to survive.

No, there is no such law here. If it is implemented in your country already, then it is the first country I know of that has such law. That means drivers have to carry around 'proof of ownership' with them or inside their vehicles all the time.

No, there's not. If I think about it, the law could be useful, for for example, detecting car thieves, but it actually has drawbacks. Like if there are two cars in a family, one, let's say, the mother's one is crashed (not even beecause of their fault), and the mother needs a car to go to work, to go fetch up the kids, etc., to go shopping (with huge bags of goods), it's better to borrow the car than renting one...

We do not have that kind of law but it would be beneficial. that law might lower the case of car-napping and other Crime if that law is implemented accordingly.
