What do you do in home spiders that making their annoying web above your ceiling? A friend of mine visited me yesterday as she went to the bathroom and I heard her scream, I thought she saw cockroach but I know I don't have cockroach and mice here. Since I already block holes where they came from and I always draw line using chalk cockroach killers. She saw home spider on the ceiling making web . She told me why I did not killed those spiders. I told her that I don't know how to kill them . I can always strike it with broomstick she told me. But I can't I just felt a little pity on them since they don't bite only it's annoying when they built web but I can always remove it with broom. Same as black ants who only passed by here in front of my door step since they don't bite I just let them pass by. Do you kill those pity poor spider who just making their web and don't bite at all?

Killing little spiders is a little pity.:( Recently I found an interesting way to get rid of them without feeling guilty. I found in my garden a praying mantis and kept it in a big jar. Now whenever i find a spider a put it in the jar and within seconds it gets completely eaten. I know it is harsh too, but at least now they die for a reason. :P

But you are defeating the purpose! If you keep the mantis in a jar, it can't breed and make babies to kill all the bugs and spiders you dislike. If you can put the spider in a jar, can't you just put it outside where the mantis families can feast on it? Set your mantis free!

I guess you are right on this one. It's getting pretty hard finding food for it these days anyway, so maybe I should free it in the backyard. It is a wonderful pet however and it is such an interesting insect that it is really enjoyable watching it eat. Even if spiders are not on the top of his menu, he still eats them without putting much thought. I'll arrange that he will be free soon though, thanks for pointing that out. :)

I do not kill anything but cockroaches and thank God I have not seen a cockroach for years and years and never in this house. I sweep away cobwebs and if I find a spider where I can reach it I catch it in a glass and put it outside. Spiders are so beneficial and help control the bugs that nobody wants in their houses. I saw a spider in the bathroom a couple of weeks ago in a web. I told him he had to leave or I would be forced to put him outside. The next day the web was empty and I have not seen him again and have since swept the web away. This summer there were ants at the bottom of my steps where I would certainly have crushed their little hill if I hadn't seen it. I told them they had to move, and quickly, because I can't watch for them all the time. The next day they were gone and I don't know where they moved. This is very strange but I'm grateful they--or God--listened!

I kill them because I can't stand them, but my neighbor's daughter always takes them back outside...lol In my house, in order to keep the spider population down, not only do I clean often, but my cleaners all have a citrus scent because spiders don't like citrus.

Since I make my own cleaners, I add drops of citrus essential oil to my mixture. Been doing this for year and rarely do I find a spider inside my house and if I do, usually it is because it is in an area i haven't cleaned recently.

I try not to kill spiders. Spiders are really our friends. After all, they eat the other insects that are a nuisance to us. When a spider takes up residence in my home I just try to relocate it back outside. I have several relatives who come over and are deathly afraid of spiders and will scream at the top of their lungs and jump around as if they have been bitten by the spiders when they see them. It is embarrassing when that happens. I would say just to try to relocate them.

we do not kill the spiders, we just remove the webs that are already very dirty and mixed with dust or soot or what we call in the Philippines as "agiw", I admire spiders especially how they spin their web, they also help us control insect borne diseases caused by mosquitoes and flies. Millions die from dengue and and malaria in our country but I have not heard of anybody dying from spider bites ( we are blessed that there are very few poisonous spider species in our country )

Same with you I letthe web to stay there for some insects who will trap on it. I just do the cleaning once a month.

yes because the new webs are often colorless and could hardly be seen, it's the old or abandoned webs that accumulate dust and are no longer effective in catching harmful insects.

Hi bhaby miss you these day where are you been witching around? I agree both of you LK the web inside my bathroom has many small insects trap even mosquito that's why I have a second thought not to kill them.
• Philippines

Well, Indeed it's true because I see them too at the back of the house under a terrace of the back yard. the problem is that they can't get them all and can only get a few mosquitos. maybe i should get some small ones and put them somewhere were mosquitos are dominated out there

Spiders do bite, although the common house spider is not a threat to a human being. I do have spiders in my home, but as long as they are reasonably scarce as opposed to running everywhere then I do not consider them a problem. Naturally I would remove any webs that appeared but they help to keep a building clear of flies and other pests so they are quite welcome to share my home.

I do kill them and I hate spiders. I usually use an insect repellant or bug spray. I buy bug sprays not because I have bugs, such as cockroaches. I buy them in case I need to use the bathroom in the wee hours of the morning and there is a big spider lurking in the corner. I know they don't bite. But their size makes my skin crawl.

It is hard to say, a spider won't bite. Don't you watch Spiderman, how parker gain his super power? He was bit by the spider. I was just kidding with you. Anyway, in my case, I saw one or two spider crawling on my bedroom wall a couple of times, but they didn't weave the spider on the ceiling, I still get a my flip - flop, or a broom to slam them flat though. I just don't like those insects crawling on the wall. Maybe I should call the exterminator to do their job.

I can tolerate Granddaddy Longlegs spiders. They are Arachnida but not really spiders. I call them spiders cause they have 8 legs. Ill pick them up and out them outside, but spiders that make webs and jump don't have a chance in this house. I don't like spiders.

I do kill them, haha :D. They are annoying, and they CAN bite. I'm not a biologist, and I don't know which one bites, so... easier to prevent it. I'm not afraid of them, fortunately. My brother does, on the other hand, so he makes me kill them in his room, too...

I have a love/hate relationship with spiders. I don't want to see them and I definitely don't want to feel them on me. A spider who gets in my way will get killed. With bugs/spiders, I usually let them land, then throw a piece of scrap paper on them and stomp on them/hit them with something heavy. The paper is good for clean-up. If they stay out of my way, I let them live in my apartment. They can eat any other bugs who try to take up residence.

I try to catch the spiders and relocate them outdoors. Ofcouse the dangerous ones don't make it, I can't take the chance that they may bite someone, that can be terrible and even kill someone.

Hello lynboobsy, RED ANTS! they are always my target and when ever you bump into them, and gets to crawl on you, they would bite with out hesitation. not only they bite hard, they have been crawling in some parts of the house that even got through the freaking laptop or specially my clothes. As for the spiders, you should watch out, there are spiders out there if you allow them to grow, they can bite you and it's venom can eat your skin like a live bacteria. when I saw a large spider in our tool box, i had my moms friend got rid of it because it was way to big for me

Hi friend, we don't have spiders in our house, it is really annoying if we had it in our house. One of my friend's house is very old one and we can find a lot of cockroaches, spiders, lizards and rat in his house, really it is hard to live in such kind of places. Luckily we don't have this kind of problems in our house
