Will facebook's reign ever end?

Before we have friendster, which we thought was the coolest thing on the net and then came facebook. With just a blink, facebook almost completely washed off friendster. Taking a closer look at facebook, indeed it has more features that I think is better than other social media sites. It is simple yet I can get so many things out of it. So to put it simply, i can't think of anything that can ever put facebook's reign to a stop. But if ever this happens, what do you think will that site have that could possibly overpower facebook?

hi glenng01, welcome to mylot! during the older days, friendster's users are mainly in the south east asia (friendster was the top website for philippines, indonesia, malaysia, etc.). then, friendster started the idea of fan profile in order to get the official singers, artistes, public figures, companies, etc. to join in and to bring their fan base into friendster, so that it could be enlarged into the other parts of the world faster and easily. at the same time, facebook started to become popular among the teenagers/youth because of the games. later, facebook also joined in creating fan page for official singers, artistes, companies, etc. and many big and famous names and companies joined in. nowadays, almost all public figures like politician, government, president, royal, singers, actors/actresses, companies, products and every other official bodies from every country in the whole world are using facebook. i think facebook will reign at least another 10 years or longer depending on how much the world situation changes and how fast facebook can cope with the changes. if there is not much changes in the next 10 years, i believe facebook will reign until the end.

OF course everything has its end. No one stays forever except the universe. LOL. it will eventually stop and new people will discover another type of social networking site, who know someone who is paying for every photos we upload why not am sure that will be a sure hit.

Haha, yes I like the idea of being paid by doing something simple that we like such as uploading photos.

I wish it did cause I never heard about a social network that steal our information and store it without our consent. It doesn't allow us to terminate an account, like erasing it, we only have it deactivated, that's really weird and uncomfortable. I think people should not put their real information in there anymore, it's real people holding those informations there.

there is nothing permanent in this world so i guess there will come a time that there will be a site that will overpower facebook.. but maybe it will be too far from now... because we haven`t getting much of facebook yet they have more to offer so that people will keep on patronizing them..

It's certainly going to be around for a very long time! I also think it will be a hard one to beat. It has literally wiped all social networking sites, Friendster, MySpace and now with twitter trying to compete. The into thing that will be tough is that Facebook is great for businesses, selling pages etc. You can now even earn money on there, let alone just chat, play games etc. Tough call for another to wipe if out. Security wise, its getting worse but then its being used even for police investigations, court cases etc lol. I will be keen to see who can compare with it.
