Hey fellow MyLotters. I'm back. Hope I can make a go of it again. Not been here regularly for about 5 years. Wow. Anyway, as my subject mentions, I'm back in school again. I'm a 59 year-old student in the Audio Recording program at Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana. I'm really enjoying it, too. Music has been one of my loves since I was a kid. I can play piano, clarinet, and bass clarinet. I will never be at a professional level of playing any instrument but I can help the next person who is to "get there". This is my second year in the program and it's been very challenging...especially the software used for the recording and editing of music and videos. I will be graduating with an Associate in Science Degree in Audio Recording at the end of the 2013 Spring Semester at the end of April. I will also be ProTools10 certified and have Reason Certification. I also plan to transfer my Composition 2 to my hometown Jr. College in order to graduate from there with and Associate in General Studies with Emphasis in Music. One thing that has been great is that many subjects required for my major transfered from my hometown along with most of the GenEd requirements. So all I had left were the main subjects such as some recording classes, a few music business-type classes, ProTools, Music Technology, Audio/Video Production, Audio Equipment Maintenance, Web Page Design, and some others. There is an inkling of a chance for me to work with an Indie musician and his friend who has great recording equipment. So next spring, I just may be heading to Michigan!!

One of the great things about returning to education later on in life is that you actually understand why you are there! From school to college in your teens is a natural porgression for many but they do it with a herd mentality. As an adult with plenty of life experience you select this path because you want to develop your klnowledge and ability. Good for you and I wish you every success.

Thanks p1kef1sh. Other than developing my knowledge and ability, I'm doing this for me. I'm tired of having jobs where I don't enjoy it and am just plain miserable being there.

Thanks, Mariaperalta. Yeah, we are never too old to learn but sometimes I feel that way. It's been great being around the kids at school, though, because they are into "real music by real musicians"(as Prince would say at his shows). They don't depend on the computer generated junk you hear on the radio nowadays. Not like it used to be, that's for sure.
