There has been a concerted effort to remove God from all aspects of our lives. What improvements in societal behavior (ethics and morality) have resulted from this effort?

The premise of your question is false: You are entirely welcome to have whichever God or Gods in your life as you wish. The concerted effort has been to stop you from shoving your God into my life. The improvement in societal behavior has been less of one person's God getting shoved into someone else's life.

Metallion, isn't it the atheist and agnostics who shove their believes into our lives? Yes, God has been a part of our nation, but no one has forced Him on you. Now, since your premise is inaccurate, in what way has society improved?

TheMetallion I think the methods of ridicule used by non-belivers has been outrageous. There is a free practice stipulation in the establishment clause.

Ridicule by non-believers? Atheists are easily the most disliked people in the US... in a big study that had the results posted in December of 2011, Atheists ranked the least trusted group of people in the US, coming out equal to rapists. Or, back in 2006, Homeland Security in Kentucky issued a law stating that Atheists and Agnostics are potentially forced to assert that the public safety of their state is dependent on 'Almighty God' or face criminal charges, up to 12 months in jail. And you're saying that ridicule by non-believers is outrageous?

You really just have to look at the countries with the highest and lowest rates of religion, to get an idea of how it works... Most religious countries per capita; Somalia, Congo, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Tanzania... Least religious countries per capita; Estonia, Sweden, Denmark, Czech Republic, Norway, Hong Kong, Japan, UK, Finland, France. Do you see the difference? I see the difference.

If you have an opinion of moral or ethical behavior, do you think things are getting better in the United States or worse? I want to know based on your definition.

The US is right around the middle, although just a bit more religious. It's around the same level as Argentina, Ireland, Austria, Chille, Belize, Moldova, Venezuela, Croatia, Greece & Bosnia.

It all depends on your idea of G-d. If you mean Everyone believing in the same vision of G-d , by doing away with that , many more people have come to the Being we see as G-d in a different way. They may call Him by another name and the rules they live by are different but it is the same Being. Or are you saying society is telling us that we Must be G-dless? Well it isn't working. Many are religious. What is gone is the power of one Church to rule All the people. All of us have the right to choose our path to G-d!

Yes I have. Being one of G-d's children doesn't have anything to do with your hue anymore.Being Gay isn't a first class ticket to hell. And women have the right to Choose if they marry or not. These are just a few.

No, I'm not saying society is telling us we must be godless. They just want God, any god, out of the public eye. Your personal relationship with God is of no interest to them. God is associated with certain moral and ethical rules that I believe they don't agree with. By removing Him from society, they remove those rules. If a person doesn't believe in morality or ethics anyway, they would probably say things are fine. But there are some, whether religious or not, who have a moral compass. They might be able to see a difference, whether good or bad, in how society has fared with God being removed. Have you seen improvement in morals and ethics in the past 45 to 50 years?

bestboy19 No good can come from trying to remove God..except maybe more people will pray for the non-believers and perhas in doing so there will be converts..

It would be nice to see the non believers converted, but we should pray for them whether they are trying to remove God from the public or not.

@bestboy.. very soon time will come..When all his children caught up in the air to meet their creator and that is the beginning of all sorrows on planet Earth. I can't live without my GOD.I am nothing without him.he gave me life, air to breath, body to do his will.he is my everything.I' am still living cuz I'm waiting for GOD.Without him what's the use of my life.I'd rather die

We should rejoice because we know God is coming for His children, but we should also work to bring the lost to Christ. Therefore, we should live to serve God.

That really sounds terrible to me... without God, you see your life as having no purpose, and you'd rather die. What about helping out the people around you? What about helping out the world? Aren't those important? You'd rather die then help others and do good? That's pretty freaky...

I can not assume something will not happen .. God since time immemorial and forever .. As for those who deny the existence of Him , they'll know which return overturn ..I do not think it has good morals adultery and crimes will increase will increase ..Etc. because they do not believe in the Hereafter and held accountable for their actions, whether good or evil

Do you think they have no concept of morality? There are those who say, "Whatever makes you feel good." But what about the consequences of those feelings? What does it say in the Bible, "The pleasures of sin for a season." What about after that pleasure is over and later results aren't so pleasurable? Perhaps then they start thinking about the moral implications.

Your question is unanswerable for several reasons, not the least of which is that there is no effort being made to remove a god from people's lives. de omnibus dubitandum

I don't agree with you. God is still present as always. Perhaps what has changed is that human interference is much less than it used to be. We should not have to be told what our religious duty, ethics or morality are. But there is a long way still to go! Your belief in God, or not, is a purely personal thing that has no concern to other people. So I for one am certainly glad that most forms no longer need your religion to be stated, as an example. Still there are problems over religion in many societies around the world. My view is that people should choose their God / religion instead of being born something just because their parents were something. That isn't likely to happen though! Improvements? Sorry but I haven't seen much. We still have religious wars, terrorism, and all the other unnecessary nastiness - all for the "love" of God.

I didn’t say God wasn’t present. I said there is an effort to remove Him from our lives. I disagree with you that there’s less human interference. If anything, there’s more from those who would have God totally erased from the public arena. You don’t like being told your religious duties. I don’t like being told I can’t practice my religion openly even though my nation’s Constitution has guaranteed no prohibition to practice my religion. If my belief is of no concern to others, why do those others try to stop my “free exercise thereof?” Since this discussion is not about religion, but about how well the world is fairing without the influence of God, do you think the secular world has improved on a daily bases? Has there been any “unnecessary nastiness” as a result of the absence of Godly influence?

Most of us have god faith and avoid doing unwanted bad things and sins due to the God fear, The persons who have faith in God believes that each and every activities of human is closely watched by the God and he will reward and punish the person based on his good and bad things. Even though we have god faith in this world, still some persons are doing crimes, sins and ills against others. We believe that this kind of criminals must answer for their bad things and get punishment from the God. It is really hard to imagine our world without God. We all need the superior power to watch us, control us when going in a wrong way and guide us in a good way. If no god is exist in this world then Satan will start to rule this world and the bad things will increase and good will destroyed. We don't get any improvement and benefits in a Godless world. People will start to do various bad things and give tortures and troubles to others with their activities. The god fearing activities only lead us to avoid doing unwanted things and to become kind with other human beings. We always need some superior power to guide us, in school we need teachers, in colleges we need professors in our office we need supervisors and managers to watch our work and activities. In the same way we need God to watch our activities and guide us. So God is essential for the world to have its moments and regular routines. Without God we don't get any good things and bad things will start to rule over this world and destroy it easily. So never think about the Godless world and always have faith with the Almighty and get fear to do unwanted things. Be true, kind and good to others to get good in your life.

still people who do not believe in God are working out things to alienate the public from God. They do not see how desperate someone can be without God in his life. As a reply to your question, moral decay is being magnified because of efforts to remove God from our lives.

So you see no improvement in the behavior of society even though those who want to remove God have said man is capable of right action without God?

I see corruption of deeds and morals instead. A man who is deprived in sin is already far from God, How much more distant from Him if man forcefully alienate himself to the Lord all the more? Man is capable of action apart from God but those acts are all for man's destruction.
