Ever since watching The Lord Of The Rings for the first time a few years ago, I have wanted to visit New Zealand, which is where it was filmed. Even when watching it now, I am in constant awe of it. From the snowy mountains right down to the perfect rivers, there is no place I would rather see with my own eyes. Not just through a screen but REALLY see it. It looks to be almost flawless. I imagine it would be rather expensive though but I haven't actually checked out prices yet.
Now I know that it is not like that throughout the entire country because basically, I'm not an idiot! But from what I have seen, I'm in love with it!

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well yes although i have not watched that movie in full but i have seen how NZ have been depicted beautifully and it feels as if it is a paradise. The nature is breathtaking and anybody at your place would have loved to spend some time in that country. If u really want to visit then u should go through the prices first, set aside your budget and if u think it is the right then then u should go and visit that country.
What say?

Yes, it's certainly a goal of mine. Would you consider going at all?

As a tourist, you will like the place.
New Zealand is really beautiful, and they do not have snake or mosquitoes there.
If you think about migrating there, you will think twice because of the high income tax and high VAT.
The cancer rate is also one of the highest in the world.

I visited New Zealand in 2001 and came back home in 2002. I flew into Auckland and then went up to North Land exploring it in detail. Then I flew to Christchurch and I went around the South Island. I found it even more beautiful than the North Island. Wow! Then I took the ferry to Wellington and traveled back to Auckland via Hastings. In Hastings they had an Art Deco Weekend. It was a special event that was amazing. I liked the geothermal very much. At a place there I swam at a group of pools of different temperatures. It was a lovely time I had in beautiful New Zealand. Whilst in wonderful New Zealand I did two different long distance walks: the Abel Tasman and the Queen Charlotte ones. I found spectacular scenery on those special walks. I stayed at backpacker hostels and in my tent which I bought in Nelson.
To get to New Zealand for eight hundred pounds I bought a return airline ticket to Auckland in New Zealand. I was allowed five stopovers and an internal flight in New Zealand. I chose LA in California twice, French Polynesia, the Cook Islands and Samoa plus a flight from Auckland to Christchurch.

New Zealand has been in my list as the destination I must visit.
It has been in the list for years now. The location of the filming
of the Lord's of the Ring is spectacular. A must visit! Due to the
currency exchange, it is on the high side and exceeding my budget.
I put it on hold till I have extra money. Many who have visited
New Zealand has great testimonies of its natural beauty and landscape!

I was there some years ago, I visited a friend from the UK that worked there for some years. We met at the Tolkien discussion board, so we did go to see a few of the sites. I loved New Zealand, I'd love to go back. It's not so much being that that's expensive though, it's getting there. Once you're down-under it's not too bad. Stayed in youth hostels both in Australia and New Zealand, they were about the same price but the ones on New Zealand were nicer, had better beds and warmer showers :-) The food wasn't too bad either, and the car we rented on NZ was really cheap. I think the only expensive thing we did was a whale safari.

Hi thanks a lot fro mentioning that. I've read something about New Zealand almost a year ago and the magazine described New Zealand is really a good place. You liken it into a paradize which captivates my attention. I hope we too can visit the place.

I also think that New Zealand is a paradise. As it is far from the mainland, so it can still maintain its natural and beautiful scenery. It is less polluted there. And it has the typical plants and animals. It is a nice place to explore. I wish one day I can travel there.
