If I'm working for a boss who set the meeting on a sunday, I think that I am obligated to obey my boss. That is automatically a given answer since the meaning of having a JOB is to Just Obey Boss. The boss has the power position so he will schedule anything related to your job on any day or even at night if it warrants. Many of us don't like it since it's supposed to be a free day. However, we cannot really be disobedient or we'll be fired. Time will come, when you will be the boss of your company (if you start one) and you'll be the one obeyed. Your employees will be glad that you spare them of attending a sunday meeting. Meanwhile, it would be good to start building your dream or you'll be building someone's dream for the rest of your life.

i think i'd rather get fired than follow an irrational order. the company wouldn't be a good one if it does not respect its employees. ifever i will issue an order, i should be considering every concern. like i am doing now.

i have met this problem before. but we have no choice but to obey. Boss has his own arrangement. Sometimes we can't accept this issues, but there is no way to solve this proble. I met one boss who like to chat with us everyday and sometimes until midnight, the converstian between us is not only for job but also for some interesting problem. We are too tired to listen, but we have to stay there to wait.

I personally think thats wrong. They could make time during the week for a meeting. Sunday is everyones rest day. We all need a break from work, don't you agree? But since they did have the meeting on Sunday they should make it up to the employees and give them an extra day vacation for it.

hello asliah. i wouldn't want it if my boss scheduled a meeting to a sunday. sunday is the only rest day i have. and i won't spend the day for work. we would have the rest of the week to discuss and do work, so why take over a rest day? having no other time is not a valid reason. should he ever insist that we meet on a sunday, at least it should be reflected on the pay slip.

Why not if this does not happen always. If this just happen once or twice and meals are provided. If there is no family activity that was set before he told that there will be I will certainly attend. But if there is I will tell him immediately that i can't attend because there is a set family activity already.

To be honest, I am not a big fan of holding work-related meeting on Sundays. It's just that lots of family stuff and celebrations, if any, are being scheduled on a sunday because most of us have work and we all know that Sunday is the safest day when everyone could be free to attend these important family functions. Being also the day before another start of work week, I prefer to just rest and finish whatever household chores I might still have pending. Maybe it is in my system or I have programmed myself over the years that Sundays are my downtime. A couple of times we were called to report for Sunday work because of some critical issues that wasn't resolved the previous work week and our boss back then was in another country and he won't be back until the weekends so naturally he would schedule an emergency meeting on a Sunday. It is annoying, but then, what can we do but follow the directives.
