We can safely conclude that almost all persons, males and females, have done an interesting game known as kite flying. The kind of kite matters not from the lowly piece of paper tied with a string to the most intricate ones with animal designs flying over skylines. Have you experienced this activity during your childhood? Recall the fun and excitement by sharing it to the community.

When I am very young I used to joined my brother to make paper kites. We even use the calendar papers, make the ribbons, the tails etc. During windy season many people will go to the field or the park to fly kites. I like to hold the the kites and run then my brother will signal me to let it go. The joy of looking at it flying higher and higher is amazing. Then my brother will let me hold the handle, he will asked me to pull and tighten a bit and then let it loose again. These kites can go very very high. At times it got stuck at tree branches too.

I misses my brother. He was actually the one who always make the best and the most beautiful kite in our place...children of my age, would pay him in order for him to make a kite for them...

I'm doubly glad to know you from across San Juanico Bridge and for your response. Making kite is indeed skillful. There are those who are skilled enough to make kites that really soared the skies and one of them is your brother. Congrats to him. Kite flying as a play activity is deep-rooted in my personality despite my age because during my younger days said activity is never absent in places where we have lived SAN SEBASTIAN and PARANAS, especially during windy days like the habagat season. God bless you.

You remind me of the old good days. My brother and I used to make all kinds of kites from newspaper, brown paper etc. We at times challenge with other kids to see whose can go highest. There is also one technique where we use broken pieces of glass to glue on the string where we can cut rival kites during it flying high in the sky. Have you heard of it?

Yes, just for the fun of it, kite flyers discovered a bright idea of putting one over the other; that during competition kites with strings glued with fine-grounded glasses are used. Big and powerful kites are used in this game with the intention of whose string will be first to be cut through rubbing as the kites are intertwined.

Yes i like kite flying very much. During my school we used to fly kites. Sometimes my brothers used to make the kites with paper and glue. Ohh i remember that was an interesting part. They always used to give me the tail work . I mean i used to cut the papers for tail part in shape . Sticking the bamboo at proper point was actually required as it helps the kite to fly. After the preparation part .we used to test it , if at all it flies or not. With this we can know if the kite is heavy , on which side ,how to modify and all. The modification part starts. If everything is well then flying starts. I used qo catch the bundle of thread while my brothers were trying to fly the kite. sometimes i used to take the charge while brothers used to guide me and handle the thread. The kites competition, one boy from other terrace used to try to compete with ours we used to try to break the thread . many more things. We also used to buy the ready made kites, some used to be good while some not. Thanks for the discussion, ohh i remember all those days. Now we are grown up busy in careers hardly have time for all those. But will surely try once again.

Reading your response makes me glad because I could discern the inner and true happiness you had while playing kites with your peers during your childhood days. The kite fight and competition with playmates are vivid in my imagination because it was the game, too, that I used to play.

I did this when I was young. Playing in the field with childhood friends are so fun to be with. If I have the chance, I will do it again.

Playing isn't confined to young kids. There's always an open chance for adults to indulge in any play activity. It is said that there's a bit of a child in every person, so whenever opportunity knocks play with nieces, nephews, own kids, etc.
