Well... a few months ago... i chanced upon an airline promo going to and from Boracay via Kalibo, Aklan airport... i was so excited since it was really cheap that i immediately booked 5 round trip seats... it is for next year... and the wait is killing me... i know a lot of people who has been there... they always post their photos on facebook and they looked like they are having a great time... even the kids and the old timers... I will be with my family... so for sure we will enjoy the trip because this will be the first time we will travel as a family... Have you been to Boracay?... How was the trip?... can you recommend an affordable hotel but with great service?...

I have been to Boracay just last October. And the place is indeed very great! Even if there was a typhoon when we went there, we were still given an opportunity to enjoy because the sun did shine for us when we went there. The only thing that I wasn't happy is it is very populated. There are a lot of foreigners there. Although it's a good thing that you have a lot of people to walk along with you while you go from shop to shop or from stations 1, 2 and 3 but I still can't appreciate the crowd. I hotels then are so cheap like 50% from the original price. That is because it was an off-peak. Their off-peak happens to be from June-Dec 15 if I am not mistaken. If you go there during those months, I'm sure you will not have a hard time looking for a cheaper place to stay.

We will be going during the peak season so for sure the place will be packed with tourist... but they say that is the best time to go to Boracay since the water is crystal clear and the sand is dry... but then again... hotel would surely cost a fortune... Thanks for the response...

We went there off-peak but there sure were a lot of people still. I think Boracay never really loses all those people coming in and out of that island. I would love to go back if I have the money and time how much more those tourist who don't have a beautiful place like Boracay in there own country. I sure do hope you will enjoy your vacation

Boracay is really a nice place for vacation. There are affordable hotels there. I stayed in a cheap place there. They have small cottages there which is good for 2 or 3 persons that was where my friend and I stayed, only 800 pesos a day without meals. But we can order from them. Because there were many guests we were not able to get an air-conditioned cottage which was supposed to be only 1,000 pesos a day. I forgot the name of that place, I'll ask my friend about it.

Been there once and it was really some place to talk about. I think there are some websites out there that offers a lot of places to stay there. It is a small island yet full of things to do there. It is divided into three stations, In station 1 the high end hotels are mostly there much more quieter and peaceful place to stay therei if you do not want a noisy place at night time. Station 2 is where most 1st, 2nd and 3rd class hotels are in. It also is a bit noisy at night since it is there that most night time activity dwells. It is also in this place that the sand is the best. In Station 3, not much to see in here and some hotels are just sprouting. The sand is not as fine as Station 1 & 2 but much quieter than the two station since most are staying there only to rest for the night. Hotels are also affordable in these area. When we got in there we tried the island hopping and the underwater adventure. It was nice unforgettable experience we have had there and everything went well for us. The only thing abour Kalibo is its quite far from the island itself and you will have to travel about a couple of hours more by land before you reach the island. Since we arrive there at night so the transportation was a bit scary and you cannot see anything at night of course. Caticlan is the much better place for you to land since I think it will take you 30 minutes travel time to the island.

Yeah I guess if you have a budget for it then choose Station 1 it is way quieter there though I am also seeing some bars sprouting there already when I visited that a couple of years ago. But I think it is much noisier in Station 2 especially if you would come there on peak months.

Thank you for this very helpful post... i was really thinking about where to stay... Station 1, 2, or 3... but now that you mentioned it... i might choose station 1 since we have kids to think about... they might not appreciate the noise of all the bars in station 2... Thanks for the response...

I've never been there, matter of fact, I don't even know where it is. Let me research it and get back to you with a decent answer...Ah! now I know what you are talking about. Its the home of the puka shell, I've been to Hawaii, our family lived there for about a year and we loved it! I would still like to visit Bora Bora and Boracay so I could sit on the beach and relax while I take beautiful pictures.

The Boracay that's mentioned in this topic is located in Philippines and it's different from Bora Bora...

Bora Bora is different from Boracay... it is located in a different country... there are a lot of visitors there during the summer... and it is very famous for its white beach... in the past... only the rich can afford to stay there... but because of budget airlines and hotel... people like me can now visit... Thanks for the response...

I haven't been to Boracay. I really want to go there but it's far and my parents are busy with their work so we can't really go for some family trip. If ever we go to some place for some family bodning, it's somewhere not needing to ride a plane. Too bad. Also, it is such a pity that we can no longer take back some sand from Boracay. I want to put some in a small bottle for souvenir. Haha! NExt time, I'll try going to Boracay when I am finally old enough. I will probably go with my friends. Going with my family isn't so bad but our schedule just won't make it. So most likely I'll be going with my friends if there will be plans for it. Hoping for it sooner or later! Hehe!

I have a friend who has an agency and they cater to Boracay hotels as well. Rooms for 2 persons for 3days/2 nights would only cost 2500php each including breakfast. the hotel is situated at the beachfront and in Station 1 where most of the happenings and celebrity sightings are.

I had been to Boracay three times! all because of airline promos,, the cheapest I had was 896 pesos roundtrip during October, this year.. The most expensive was i think almost 2 thousand but that was during the peak season, May as i recall, and its best to be there during the summer season because the water was calmer than in the lean season, July - December.

I thought of getting a ticket last October because of the promo fare... but decided against it because i don't want the rain to ruin the trip... with the unpredictable weather we have... better just go there during the summer... for sure the kid will enjoy the fun under the sun... Thanks for the response...

The place is amazing! I was there with my husband last April 2010 and we stayed for a week. There are a lot of hotels and one that mostly said as affordable is at La Carmela, but we stayed in Crown Regency meals are very delicious.and their breakfast I can say the best part of our trip was walking the 2 sides of the island till we reached its end. And not only that, we also walked in search for other views. There's so much adventures waiting for you there.. Goodluck!!!

I've been to Boracay and I fell in love with the place. When I see pictures of friends and relatives who went to Boracay, I always thought it was all a fad or the "in" thing. But, when I got to experience it first hand, I know I have to visit it again. It is truly a great place to just sit back, relax and truly enjoy and forget about the hustle-bustle of the city life.
