I once got smart with my teacher

It was 1999 and I started my sophomore year of college with a broken left arm (I'm left-handed). Well, I still had the cast on my arm when we took our first test of the year. As the professor was proctoring the test, he stops by me and bends down and says to me "Are you going to need more time for the test?" I responded, rather loudly if I do say so myself, "Just because I fell off of tailgate and broke my arm, it didn't make me stupid." Once I realized what I had said, I was mortified. I thought sure that the professor would be harder on me throughout the year. I ended up getting a 99% on that particular test and also ended up with an A in his class. Does anyone else have any experiences where they got smart with one of there teachers? If you did have such an experience, did you find that your teacher or professor was harder on you because of the fact that you'd back talked them?

Why should I felt that way when I know I studied well and knows my lessons.I should never felt ashamed that I back talk to my professor. He should take some precautions, as what had been happening to your arm, that he must have given you some inspiring words to make you feel more at ease with your health.

That just proved that gossipers are present in your classroom. They have nothing to do but add your already aching arms with his words of unwelcome classmate. They all proved you wrongly, because you have passed the subject with flying colors. It also proved that your professor, has no right to say bad words toward your situation, because you needed his inspiring words instead of degrading your personality, and that he have proven that you deserved to pass his subject out of your condition, that you have the ability to study well and do good in your examinations.

I think that is one of the things that a lot of people don't think about when they are students. It isn't just about showing up to class, you need to spend time studying outside the classroom as well. I spent more time studying outside of my classroom time than I did learning in the classroom.

I have to admit that my initial thought was that he thought I'd damaged my brain as well. And after I said that to him when the test was over, my best friend said to me, "I can't believe you said that, you will never be able to pass this class now!"

I only talked back to a teacher one time. I had arrived early, and she sent me to the office for her. By the time I returned the tardy bell had rang and she jumped me about being late. I told her that she had sent me to the office for her because I was early, she did not believe me and told me to go to the office and get a slip. I met the secretary just down the hall, and she went in and told her. She never asked me to do anything again.

Nothing against me, just forgot she sent me. She was close to retirement, and I think she was losing it.

You were definitely right on that one. I just have to ask what that teacher had it in for you about. And, if a teacher was to treat me like that, I would most definitely talk back to a teacher in that situation as well.

I follow you on that one, when I was in high school I had several teachers that were in that age range as well.

My senior year I had an english teacher I couldn't stand. So when I was in her class I kept my head down most of the time...when she wasn't looking I would look up and check out what was on the board.....so when she asked me I knew the answer. I made her so mad she came up one time and smacked me on the head with a book. Well I didn't look down the rest of the year and I did get an A in the class....LOL....

I think that it is always so interesting to realize that there are so many people that are able to excel in a class when it seems like they are not paying attention. I had a class like that in high school. It was computer programming and I think that I slept more in that class than I did work and yet I still got a 100+ in that class.

I was always getting smart with my teachers and because of it was kicked out of class many times. Teachers did not like me. I think what you said is funny though because he was being nice to you wondering if you would be able to write ok haha.

Thats good you were a good student and wouldnt have gotten kicked out of class all the time like me I'm sure your teachers were very appreciative of you since there seems to always be at least one wild kid in each class and it makes it tough on the teachers. I can understand why you reacted the way you did since he was breaking your concentration as well. It was just funny for me to read this :)

I think that I might have been more of a wild child if my parents had not put the fear of God in me when I was a young girl.

See, I was completely not the kind of person that would have ever been kicked out a class. And of course my being immersed in my test, it was just natural that I would say something like that. Seriously, if he would have asked me about it before the test started, I wouldn't have gotten smart, but he waited to ask me until the test period was almost over.

I noticed that in high school some, but not really in college; at least not so far!

I would definitely never have done something like that when I was in high school because I would have been far too scared that my parents would have been called.

Hi friend, good to know you got good marks in the test and become a favorite student to your professor, during my school days i have lot of incidents with my teachers. I am a good student to my teachers and always get good marks in my exams. I am pet student for my science teacher, she made me as our School leader and i had a lot of sweet memories after getting the leadership.

I feel like the years that I spent in college were some of the best years of my life. Of all of the professors that I had in college, there is only one that I don't have a good memory of, but the reason that I wasn't particularly fond of him is because of the fact that he was just a very strange person.

I don't think that most people would have the vivid memory of it that I have. The reason that this incidence lives so strongly in my mind is because of the fact that doing something like that was so very outside my personality.

No, I would not have had the nerve. I was always scared of authority and was always anxious too

I believe that is the reason that it is such a strong memory in my mind. I was a very timid person as well when it came to authority, so saying this was something that was very out of character for me.

I think that in addition to remembering what I told the teacher, I also remember it because of the fact that I did do so very well on that test. I believe that was the single highest test score that I ever got when I was in college.
