I think a lot of faiths like to believe they contribute to their salvation such as Mormons and other sects, and I think probably Muslims probably fall into this category. In a way, I guess Calvinism arguably takes the opposite stance too far, not only can you not contribute to your salvation, you can't even make that choice yourself. To me, this whole way of thinking only stems from more or less one reading of the 'predestination' verses, it does not seem to marry up with whatever else the Bible tells us about God (in my opinion), and therefore we have to define a deeper meaning from the verses in question and try and understand the context in a different way. I think it can come across as a 'superior' attitude to say 'I am saved because I was chosen', and not at all in keeping with anything else written in the Gospels as far as I can see.

I do not know if they have similar beiefs as Calvanists but I do know that they revere Mary the mother of Jesus as do those who worship in the Caholic Church. Blessings

Another misconception. Catholics do not worship Mary as that would be a sin. But we do lve and respect her. Statues are not worshipped either but we do adorn our churches with statues.

As Muslims we respect Mary and love her , but not worship her or make statues like the Christians in church .

NO that is not correct. Only those follow God (Allah) who chose to do so. Allah does not decide for people what they will choose. But Allah being All Knowing knows exactly who will follow what path.

Naseem... a Calvinist is one that believes that man contributes nothing to the process of coming to God, that man cannot choose to follow God unless God decides he will and intervenes. There is more to it than that but that is the key belief. Islam is very fatalistic and so may teach similar beliefs all the best, urban

Just a SSDD Naseem (Same Situation Different Days). Cause He believe that all the best belong to Him. He mean that Islam is like to force their belief to others. I believe He will give a verse from Qur'an. He just cut it off from 1 ayat/ayah. He always use the bellow verses to told about Islam. Al baqarah 2:191-193 Ali imron 3:151 An nisaa' 4:76 An nisaa' 4:89 Al Maidah 5:33 Al anfaal 8:12

On the surface they may seem to, but words mean different things in the two religions.
