All that happened to her

I saw the lady that works at the sports center I go to. She works in the children's room. Today I noticed awful looking scratches on her face. I wondered if she had fallen off her bike. She told me that three weeks ago during high winds a tree had fallen on the car she was in. Her husband had been driving and all of a sudden a tree had fallen, damaged the car and really hurt both of them. For ages nobody came to them. Luckily a farmer found the car and thought people were in it. He phoned 999 for the emergency services. She and her husband were taken off to hospital. She told me that she and her husband are living in a rented cottage. They have hired a car. The car insurance didn't give a car to them whilst they are without their car. They were told if they hadn't been in a strong car they would be dead. She told me that a clothes dryer had caught on fire and burned their home down. They lost all their possessions in the fire. It could be 8 months before their house can be sorted and they can move back in to it. They had to let their dogs stay with friends. She says she needs therapy. Do you know anyone that had many bad things happen to them? Have you driven in high winds? Do you leave your clothes dryer or washing machine on when you are out? Is your clothes dryer close to your boiler or air conditioning?

I feel sorry for her. Yeah it's bad that so many awful and problems happens, all in it that accidents, it's so unfortunate. But it's still lucky that they don't lose their life, but they need to fight it. The troubles may happen and the series of unfortunate events seems to always befall them, I just can pray for them, hopefully things will get better and I believe it will. For me, I never leave clothes dryer or washing machine on when I'm out, that's not a wise thing to do...

its hard to hear anyhow and is truly hurting because in one way or other it might hurt us also in the cottages around and the clothes need to be dry conditioned

I can think of only one situation where something worse happened in such a short amount of time to one family. It's a family I know well. In a span of one month their oldest daughter got hit by a car and was in ICU, their youngest daughter ate rat poison and they didn't know if she'd make it, and their middle daughter almost severed two of her fingers in a freak accident at a neighbor's house.

Bad things happen to good people all the time, and vise versa. I have driven in high winds, there were some cross winds that we drove through and sometimes the wind was driving the car, it was white knuckle for a while. I'm pretty good about doing laundry while I'm home, I don't like to leave things undone so I'll start a load and finish it completely. Our clothes dryer is next to the washer.

Wow that is awful. It is truly sad when things like this happen. It is a wonderful thing that they did not die in the car accident. I hope that things will soon calm down for them. I can only imagine how stressful all of that would be. One time our dryer started smoking and we were worried about an electrical fire so we called the fire department. Thankfully it didn't get into the wall. That would have been very scary.

Yes I did drove many times in strong wind (mostly windy over here and you can't always choose when to drive). Just behind my house are high trees and it's just waiting till they fall down. I let 2 of them cut down (although the owner of the house should have done that). Turned out it was a wise thing to do since they were sick as well and dangerous. One tree did fall down, next to my shed into the garden of the neighbours. I did use my washingmachine at night or if I am not home. Now I wouldn't do that anymore (I wash way less also since my kids are not that little anymore and not wearing cotton diapers). My dryer I seldom use. If I do not use my stove I shut of the gas. I have a part of my electricity switched off and nothing in the contacts if I leave (I don't trust the wires/electricity in this house). I think we all have periods in our live it looks as if we fall from one (nearly) accident or problem into the next. Perhaps it's a wake up call?

OMG, did she break a mirror or something? 7 years bad luck, I am not surprised she needs therapy. I know only of myself that have had bad things happen to them, but thats over a lifetime, I was abused twice, sexually as a child by two different people, I was badly bullied at school, had a nervous breakdown at work, diagnozed with clinical depression and serious anxiety disorder, so I don't think I have been lucky in life. I have driven in high winds and floods, but I won't drive in snow, I just won't take the risk.

I do know many people that things just happen to them all the time. I feel sorry for them. I have left my house with the washer and dryer going, but only leave the dryer on if it has less than 10 minutes to go. Nothing is close to my washer and dryer.

Oh, how awful. There have been a lot of windstorms lately, I think. I have heard of people's clothes dryers starting fires, but I do still leave mine on when we go out.

That is quite a bit of bad luck. I am always afraid of driving during bad weather, but I can't imagine something like this happening. There have been a lot of apartment fires in my city lately, so I have been more cautious about leaving things on. I don't have washers/dryers at my place, but I can see how things spread very quickly. Some families I know lost everything about a month ago due to arson.
