On this website "redtag", they got these great deals on a daily basis, and I just couldn't resist those price on the items. They got these Apple computer on sale, which are half price of those retail. The only catch is that most of them are refurbished items. I don't mind to get refurbished items. As matter of fact, the All - in - one computer I am using now is also refurbished item from the local electronic store, I paid pretty good price on it. And I use it until now, almost a year already. But to my friends, they advised me to spend a little bit more on brand new item rather than those refurbished. So, what do you think?

I always prefer brand new items. I don't wanna take the risk with refurbished items specially with electronic items such as computers. While it is true that you could get good buys with refurbished items it is not always the case so I might as well be on the safe side rather than ending up wasting than saving money on my purchases.

I agree with salonga. Refurbished electronics have the potential to carry viruses and have other problems that might show up either immediately or further down the road, much like a previously owned vehicle. Unlike a used car, you cannot take refurbished electronics to a guru for inspection for purchase, especially when buying online. So, like I said, I'm with Salonga on this one. Go new and save yourself the possible headaches. :-)

Well I don't seem to have much luck with brand new Apple computers, do you know I have actually been through 4 apple mac brand new computers since 2003! I thought Macs were supposed to last. I had to take my current Mac in the other today because it had developed a fault, it is not even 3 years old, fortunately because of my bad luck I took out an extended warranty so the cost to fix it was covered. It wasn't cheap either brand new it was $1500! It has put me off Macs, I would much rather have a PC. So no, I wouldn't mind getting a refurbished computer providing it lasted more than 2 years.

Since you said Apple I can tell you something good about a refurbished Apple computer. I actually called Apple on the phone and was real curious about what they consider a refurbished computer. This is what they told me. They said, that even though they are used computers, they have to live up to a certain standard. For one, the body or shell of the computer has to be in perfect, impeccable condition. Then as for the inside, they redo everything. Basically it is all new inside. They come with the same warranty as a brand new one does. So anything that goes wrong they will fix or replace for free. I think it is still worth the investment.

I would buy a refurbished computer or any gadget if it has a reliable warranty to it. Since we all know that refurbished things are overhauled, we really can’t tell if it would last a long period so with the store’s warranty seal to it. We can assure ourselves that they will have an assurance that the stuff will be liable for repairs and replacements.

I would not mind having a refurbished computer. I have played games on refurbished game consoles in the past with good standing. i have had no problems with them. a refurbished computer could fare just as well. @natliegleb (5173)

The laptop I use now is the first brand new one I have had. The one before this one still works, it just has missing keys because of a puppy and my children. Other than that it works perfectly. I had it for 4 years now but it got annoying with the keys that way so I got a new one instead. Once my husband got his settlement I finally got a brand new laptop...
It depends on how well it was rebuilt in my opinion. Apparently, the guy that rebuilt mine was good. But not all end up that way. My sister had a refurbished one and it crapped out on her within the first 6 months of having it, thats a short time.

Refurbish computer is good if you don't have any option. My husband love's refurbish, when I first met him, he has refurbished computer that it lasted for a year. Then he bought again a used one and it lasted for just three months I think... then he bought again another refurbish and it's the same thing happened over and over. I was fade up and said to him that it's a kind of wasting the money. I said to him, save your money and buy a new one and so he did bought a new one last year and until now were still using it.

It depends on what you're looking for. If you want a computer that will just read email and browse the web, a cheap refurbished machine probably isn't a bad way to go. If you've got aims of gaming with it, (And this assumes you're going for a desktop; laptops are hard if not impossible to build.) I'd consider building your own. It's really not that hard to do.
