The End of Books!

Last month, I kinda stumbled into this article I read from a magazine. At the first place, I thought it was fraud or, simply put, the writer was just doing some obsolete info just to have something for his column. But as I was snaking through the details of why, in a near future, books will face its demise. In fact, a number of Encyclopedia companies had stopped printing their bestseller and/or lucrative volumes of books due to the scarcity of buyers. They even had this done last 10 years ago. What's even alarming is that these companies have recognize the sole reason of this sordid predicament and perhaps mount on believing that books will certainly die. One possible and most probably the villain of why this scenario will happen is the existence of electronic books or much known as e-books. Folks at Encyclopedia Britannica admitted that in order to comply with the fast-pacing-innovation of science and technology, they have to resort into e-books also. It was a leap of faith yet they had to take the risk just to survive in the industry. For me, there's nothing wrong with the birth of e-books. It is actually a living proof that man's capability to conceive things with the help of science and technology innovating. However, what makes it a bitter-sweet achievement is that us, the human race, forget to ensemble the essence of typical or natural things: most specifically, the books. I love reading books, I mean the real ones, rather than having it enjoyed through those electronic books. I bet, e-books can't even equivocate the elation that books bring to us readers not just by its inner aspect but also from its outside.

I don't think books would ever disappear. Maybe lexicons, encyclopedias and huge, bulky volumes. But I strongly believe that at least bestseller fiction and light novels are going to stay in book form, too, as most people prefer paper books more than e-books. Me, too, it's less tiring for the eye, and I love holding a book, owning it, looking at the cover, flipping the pages, feel the smell. And I'm not alone with it.

What make books very interesting is that they're practically real. They serve as a window for us to see what is on the author's imaginative mind. In the case of e-books, they specifically feud the structure of basic reading and literature. Yes, they differ from their appearances but, for me, a book will and will always be a books which I prefer to call literature. You feel bro? :)

I myself would prefer reading books, especially novels, in the traditional manner, and not through e-readers. I read books mostly to relax and unwind, a sort of escape from the daily rigors of life. And when your work requires you to be in front of your computer almost the whole day, reading a book at night is definitely a welcome respite. I mean, if I use an e-reader, it's as if I'm still working at my computer.

Indeed, you're right my friend. If your job requires a computer in front of you, then reading e-books during your past times is not a good one. But then again, we could really not say. Nowadays, people are getting more indulged and involved in things that science has innovated. It's a sad truth. Nevertheless, as a fan of novels and REAL books, I'm not digging into those electronic books. Crap.
