Daddy be home ( a childs Christmas wish)

I have a friend, a neighbor at that, whose husband is working abroad. She cried telling me about the conversation with her 4 year old daughter. They are about to leave the house for shopping when she asked her daughter what she wishes for a gift this Christmas. The little girl answered in a whispering voice "Daddy". I want Daddy be home. I was teary eyed then. So, i comforted my friend and told her to talked to her daughter as often as she can to fill her husbands absence. Sometimes life can be cruel, there are plenty of cases around us that is like this. In exchange of comfort there has to be a sacrifice, does it really goes along?

I am teary eye now... Actually I had such feeling when I was kid,my father often worked at other province and just can went home one or two times a year,so I can really feel that little girl's feeling. Really wish your friend's husband can come back early then their whole family can have the happy Christmas together.

I think there would be quite a number of children having the same wish as your neighbor's daughter, especially here in our country. Many dads as well as moms have to work in a foreign country just to give their children a better life. It's really sad and touching to see children wishing this instead of getting expensive toys and gadgets. It's a good thing we have the internet now. At least they could talk and see their fathers unlike before when it was just a phone call, or worse, just a Christmas card sent.

that is very true beamer88. Everything is also a sacrifice. For a father to be away from his family especially on this time of the year is not easy, but because of his intentions and dreams for his family he has to sacrifice. For practical reasons, financial to be honest, many families have the same fate as my friend.

Oh my, poor kid. It's so moving (like she's not a spoilt kid who would cry for the most expensive Barbie, but her dad) and sad. I hope at least they can speak on the phone.

when i was still small, my father has to go away to work. and there was no exemption on dates even if it is Christmas. it really felt awkward being together with my cousins whose parents are around on christmas. we would have this party in our ancestral house and every brother and sister of my mom's would be there. all their family members are complete except ours. it felt really awkward. and sad. i know how it felt. and its not good. but now that are all grown ups, my father would see to it that he is here every christmas.

as a kid raised by busy parents, seeing my father at home during Christmas is the best gift i could ever had. sad to say i only had few childhood memories of having my father spend Christmas with us due to his busy schedule.

How poor that little girl, and how smart she is,she must miss her father so much.I was deeply touched by her wish. But I think her fahter has no choices,he needs to earn more monery to feed the family, best wishes to them.
