I don`t mind having ants in my garden, if they don`t get into my house. I got mind other bugs there, but, again, not where I live. This year, a lot of earwigs have decided they prefer houses to gardens. I am using some insecticides but uy granddaughter was drivrn away from her room by them. I am now searchingfor the best posiblr way to stop them as she has had to take all her things to a corner of the room. Do you have earwigs? What do you do to get rid of them? Please help!

I have a few earwigs, never a big infestation. But i have ants who migrate through my kitchen every Spring and Autumn. I have done everything to keep them out and I always end killing a lot. I hate that but more I hate having them in my kitchen.

I have had ants in my kitchen 3 or 4 times in my lifetime. But I^m on thr lookout when I see the first rxplorer venture into my house. I don`t kill it but follow it so that I can put some poison into the hole

Earwigs are the worst! I'm not sure if these will help for those specifically, but they have helped me with ants and cockroaches before, so maybe it will translate. First of all, bugs hate smoke. Try using a smudge stick, or lighting some incense, and getting it pretty strong for a while. You might not want to be home while you do this. Another thing that sometimes works is to take the sand from a pool filter and spread it in the corners and anyplace you've seen them a lot of times. It's so fine that it catches on their feet and sticks, and they start avoiding those areas. It doesn't work overnight, but it's helpful if you're looking for a humane way to get rid of them.

At this time, I think that I will use any sort of way. My granddaughter is cornered in her room. I read online yesterday and, besides looking to see what are their hiding places to change their habitat, there are pyretroids that are pesticides not so harmful.

No, i have no idea what they are... But we do have different pests here, i do not know what they are called in English, they are these little worms that eat wood..And it's on their way to their house, so we just kill them, burn them or spray insecticide..

Probably those are some sort of termites. I had to check at the web the name of my pests in English. I only knew the name in Spanish

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i can understand your situation, even i have the same policy, i do not mind having insects in the back yard unless and until they interfere in our homely matters. I find them extremely annoying when they come to our house as i get very much petrified on seeing them. I think rather than applying insecticides we can keep our backyard clean and hygienic so that the number of insects would reduce drastically. u can do this! What say?

I have a garden with plants and a vegetable plot. They must be kept wet so they have their own hygiene, but it has to be humid. I have to check often under containers near the houae as they are places where sow bugs like to live.

The problem is that this year we have had too many earwigs and sow bugs. They have crossed the boundaries set by me. I welcome garden spiders inside my house as they eat the eggs of the only poisonous spider we have here: the brown recluse.

Yikes! Sorry to hear that. I've heard of them, but I'm unsure if I've ever met these bugs before. The house I'm staying in has tiny cockroach-like bugs creeping in & out of the walls, though, and they just get stepped on or vacuumed. I came across a Yahoo article on how to get rid of earwigs. The writer suggests a number of things you can do, such as covering the slit between the walls & floors with rolled-up newspapers; weather-stripping windows & doors; caulking slits; putting vegetable oil in shallow pans/bowls, which would trap the bugs; and/or sprinkling Boric acid around their hiding places. Hope these help get rid of your house pests.

I don't have ear wigs but at this time of the year flies descend on the house. If the door is open for a moment one or two fly in. They aren't like the usual flies because these buzz around my face and even tangle into my hair. I hate them. At least earwigs stay on the ground. The flies come in to get out of the cold wind I think as it is always the same month when they appear. I've no idea what causes earwigs, they are horrible looking things and crawl into the smallest places. I expect the insecticides will work eventually.
