I want to install Windows 8 on but I guess for that we need to have a touch screen monitor and I would need to online 24/7 to use my desktop computer. I have read few articles and I think it's a operating system which is futuristic and for those people who have touchscreen laptops and tablets and I guess this operating is not good for those people who do not have internet connection at home and for those who are not knowledgeable about internet and technologies. I am from India where people still use Windows Xp and they do not like Windows 7 because they do not understand and possibly they are so familiar with Xp and that's why it's hard to them to find those features and functions in the Windows 7. that is why I think this is not good operating system for Indian people. And second thing it need a good configured computer to install Windows 8 - At least 16 GB of hard drive space for Windows 8 (32 bit) and 20 GB of hard drive space (64 bit) is required in order to run Windows 8 on any computer, laptop or netbook. - Minimum RAM memory required for running 32 Bit Windows 8 is 1 GB while minimum RAM memory required to run Windows 8 64 bit is 2GB. - DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver. A micro processor with a processing power of at least 1 Ghz. -Needless to say, you will need a device with multi touch screen features, if you want to explore all the touch features that ships with Windows 8. This is not a mandatory requirement, as Windows 8 should work well in general laptops, notebooks and assembled desktop computers. -An active internet connection, without which you won’t be able to login to Windows 8 at all. Windows 8 authenticates the user via a working Windows Live account and hence, you must have an always active Internet connection. I think Google has developed Windows in keeping the modern people in mind and they forget about those people only who have internet connection at home, who have money to buy and explore the apps. I guess this operating system is just a their own copycat of Windows Mobile operating system and they didn’t bother to make changes according to desktop. I can under in mobile we have 24/7 internet connection because it's cheaper and we can have apps because for entertainment but most of the people do work on computers specially on the desktops. So from a desktop and India perspective it's not a good choice to move windows Xp or 7 to windows 8 right now, maybe in future there will be a good windows 8 in future. I am not saying Windows 8 is bad operating system but I think it is not meant for Desktop. It would be good for people who have 24/7 internet connection, knowledgeable about the computer and internet, love to be updated and off course who have system requirements.

I use a desktop computer and I had installed windows 8 on it. I find that windows 8 is recommended for the PC which have good performance, for having good performance it must have good specifications and along with it is the apps on the start up are related to internet. A person don't find windows 8 apps as useful if he doesn't needs internet. Anyway I love it and enjoy using it because I have internet connection

Glad to know that you have Windows 8 on your desktop pc and pleased to hear that your are liking it. as you are user of it you must know more than any other people. then how is on desktop? I know you cannot tell how it is on touch screen monitor or laptop but you are using it on desktop then you would realize yet that it would be much fun to use it on touchscreen laptop or desktop monitor.

If someone asks me which is the best Windows OS, I will say "XP but..." that's the effect of Win7 on me. I don't use XP anymore except for my very poorly configured desktop. My old laptop is not highly configured either, but it supports Win7 Pro very well. Thats the feature which makes 7 favorable than likes of Vista. To tell the truth, I don't see anyone using XP now... I haven't tried Windows8 and don't even have any curiosity :) But yes it requires touchscreens and all high end features to support it. It will need to get a little bit down to get accepted by wider base. Until people are just fanatic about anything new. Who knows?

i am also using windpws seven and i am now habitual to it now and is cery good operating system. i dont have used xp for many days that is why i cant say whether its better than other operating system or not but in India many pepole still using xp and that is why i think windowa eight would make that much impact in India than otjer countries. windows seven has features like readyboost and we can use rightlick on most of the places like to open location in new window etc thats what make windows seven better than xp.
