A quote that my sister sent in my fb. Yes, I'm spending a maximum of one hour in my shower, and I'm loving it. It's my own sanctuary. I have all my thoughts gathered while taking a shower. My family are complaining because of this, they are lining up waiting for their turn. But most of the time, I choose to be the last one to use. They have no idea how much my spending of time in shower saves them. When I go out, I'm very refreshed and relaxed. Like I have solutions to some problems and forgive everything that happened badly and move on. It's just not my body that's refreshed, it includes my mind, heart and soul. That's why I love spending time in my shower.

hi vernaC Back during my college days, it was difficult to get into the shower but everyday when I got in I took more than 45 minutes to come out. And yes, as you rightly say - it was my sanctuary. Today, i am more scared of the water because of my Arthritis and it is just a matter of minutes. But still, when I get warm water (mostly during summers) I still spend a lot of time in and when wifey was around, she would yell at me from outside - get out of that water, you know you have arthritis. Today, she is working at a different city and hence we are staying away, and I do get some more time in the shower specially during summers

Do you sing in the shower? I do. Actually learned to do so when I was at the hostel and there were no working locks on the doors. And during summers, I have a weird urge to bathe even late nights. And one such night, I had my landlady come upstairs just to check if I was all right... I was singing loud in the shower

I'm actually a singer..a bathroom singer!!! Everytime my sister hear me singing there, sometimes they sing along and sometimes they make a dialogue for every line that I'm singing..

Hello thesids.. it's really cool to know that I am not alone in this kind of habit. My family doesnt understand this and keeps on complaining about it. Now that I am married I am so glad I'm free to take a bath no matter how long. Although when I'm out my husband would say he thought I'll never go out..hahhaa

I have a water saving shower and the water that comes out of it is refreshing. I usually spend about ten to twenty minutes having a shower depending on how much time I have before I have to go out. I moved to my bungalow two years ago and it has only got a disabled access shower and no bath. In my house that I owned before I had a double ended bath and a separate shower. I miss that bath and it doesn't seem possible to put a bath in my bungalow. I wish I had a warm bubbly bath to spend one hour in for some gorgeous relaxation. It is interesting lonely people spend a long time in their bath or shower. It is a shame your family complain you spend too long bathing. You are clever to be the last one to bathe so they don't get annoyed.

Hello maximax.. I understand why they are complaining because it's also their time and they want to spend it with something other than waiting. It's just annoying when they are banging and shouting, totally ruined my bathing moments.

Hi Verna, If you were living with me, you would hate it. We do 10 min showers....sometimes 15. It just isn't allowed. I had 4 girls and no one got to occupy the bathroom for an hour at a time!! It wasn't just about showers...we had to get in their for other reasons also. If one of us wanted a long relaxing bath then it was done later in the evening and it had to be announced so we all had the opportunity to use the potty prior to. Beyond that is the cost of water and the electric bill which goes up with long showers. I have an electric hot water heater and if you took hour long showers in my place, you'd be paying me for them. Have you tried yoga or meditation? Those are free and people friendly.

There is just something with water that makes me happy afterwards, but I'm not really taking the water run too long on my body. Although you are right, these days I should be considering about the bills.

That alot of time to spend on shower unless you are having a bubble bath or something of sort but you got to be mindful of other people waiting.

It is and I'm enjoying every minute of it. I do mind them waiting that's why I let them use first but sometimes I'm too evil to make them wait.

You should get with my younger brother he spends a couple hours in the shower as well. Taking showers arnt free and the rest of us in my house are paying for it, meanwhile he isnt so he takes his time. At least you consider others inside the household and wait to take longer showers. My Brother will push everyone out of the way, and go in meanwhile the rest of us have to go to work, and places to go while he sits at home all day.

You should keep on banging the door and shouting at him. This is what my sisters will do to me and it's very effective.
