Canines are royalty in my home, and my, their highness know they are served well. In fact, a good part of our family budget is for dog food, more than we allot for our own meals. What the heck, I sleep soundly at night, knowing my beloved pets are guarding me and my girls. Come daytime, they love curling up by my side. That's fine. I feel how secure they are by my side. Their turn to sleep, and soundly, too. LOL. My daughter loves to make the Japanese Spitz a footstool, soft and hairy. The retriever is furry and cuddly, and camera shy, ha ha. We love our dogs, we trust them with out lives. And read this: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/dog-stays-missing-boy-side-231002134.html

same here... my rat terrier tootsie is like one of my kids. i feed her before I eat. I bathe her every week. I even hold her when she cries for me. To bad many dont treat dogs and other pets better. They love us right back.

What could I say? Welcome to the family! We all are a big, big family of dog lovers that put their dogs interest before their own interest. Nothing new, huh? My wife usually says we are our dog's slaves. We want all the best for her and we treat her like a queen. Her Highness knows that and she acts like a princess. We love her so much!

hi eileeenleyva yes I felt the same w ay about the dogs I have had too they ere my friends, part of our family and when my mother without my permission put my healthy but elderly dog down I had a hard time forgiving her. she thought I was going to come out of surgery needing to rest and my dog would be a burden but that was just not true. she did care for my dog Pat while i had an emergency hysterectomy and also my new baby too. but to kill my dog that was hard to take . my dog was not ill but my mom convinced my hubby that she was way too old. So it could not be undone. later I had another dog Swap and he always knew why my blood sugar was low.We had to sell our house and move to an apartment so I had to find a good home fo him which was so h ard, he was part of us.

I've been lucky enough to have a pet dog as a part of my family from the time that I came home from the hospital when I was born. Therefore, it is only natural for me to realize that they are a very important part of my family. They not only have food that I buy dedicated to them, I also share my dinner with them all the time. What I have to say really irks me is when you hear of pets that are abandoned by their families. You know, those poor animals that are dropped on the streets or even worse those animals that are abused. I don't know how a human being can do something like that.

That is such a touching story right there. I think my dogs will also do the same thing.

Hi eileenleyva! I can relate to this as well. Haha, sometimes what my dog eats is more delicious than what we are eating. haha My dog doesn't want dog food, she eats whatever we eat, of course except those forbidden foods for dogs. She's part of the family now. Wherever we are she wants to be with us. She's making everyone in the house happy!
