Can I use the chicken skin for anything?

I cooked the chicken thighs earlier, and left them there in the juice. I took a MyLotters advise, and cut the bones out, and peeled the skin off. I put the meat in one dish. I threw the bones in the composter, now thinking the skin is such a wastiing wondering if I cane use it for something else. I will use this chicken for salads, and chicken salad sandwhiches for work tomorrow.

I don't know how it is in your country, but here in the Philippines we usually deep fry leftover chicken skin for appetizers. Just put salt and pepper (to taste) and a little bit of vinegar on the lot and then deep fry it. Voila, crispy chicken skin! (Now this got me hungry).

I have never heard of that before, I just looked up a recipe and it sounds delicious. I'm sure not the most healthiest but I am willing to try something at least once.

You can also cover the chicken skin with flour first before frying, it's more crispy this way. Or you can compress them in barbeque stick and barbeque them, you can brush it with ketchup or soysauce with vinegar or both, it's delicious.

You can add the skin in your cats and dogs food. It's not being wasted that way. I use the skin and bones to make soup stock and then take all the skin out. Rather than toss it, I give it to our dogs mixed up in their food. They love it.

I tried giving it to the cats, they more or less flung it around the floor. I have some left which I might bowl it to make soup stock, then throw it in the compost.

Hello Ricki. I would take those skins and the bones add some onions, carrots, celery and any other vegetables that I have that are left over and simmer them all for a while I would add some poultry seasoning and some soup base to give it more flavor I would also add a couple of good dashes of a good hot sauce to give the broth some zing and bring out the flavor. You could then cut up the skins to give to your kitties. they like their food in smaller bites. I just did this with our turkey and ended up with a good deal of scraps and broth for some turkey and noodles or dumpling or possibly a pot pie.

I'm not sure what you can do with the skin off chicken, never cooked it for anything. I love eating the skin off chicken and turkey just plain it's so good yet I know it's bad for you. Try looking on the internet of things you can cook with the skin from chicken I'm sure it'll come up with some ideas for you. Good luck and hope you figure out something to do with it.

A few people have suggested frying it up like deep fry it. I am going to try that, and see how it tastes. I am willing to try something at least once.

yes you can make something crispy out of chicken skin. you need some breading mixture which is already flavored like garlic or something and ready to use and you can have it at grocery stores, dip the chicken skin in it and then deep fry it.

I don't know of anything that you could use the skin from the chicken for. You see, I have always lived in a world where we don't eat chicken skin because of the fact that it is so very fattening. My grandfather and my dad were both on heart healthy diets when they were alive and that did mean that we really didn't eat anything that was fried and we never ate chicken skin or dark meat chicken. So, I don't have any kind of suggestions that I can give to you.

In my place, some people deep fry those chicken skin and sell it in the street. Many people likes it not thinking of the bad effect it will cause on their health. I have hard time taking the bones off the meat, I think it takes a skill to do that.

Deep frying sounds delicious, but it must have more cholesterol than what it would be safe for me. But I grill thighs often over a low heat so that salty skin gets crisp. That is incredibly yummy. I would do that, if you have a grill.
