My two grown daughters and their families came to Puerto Rico to visit me for ten days. They were here for Thanksgivings and my birthday. They left yesterday and now I'm so depressed. The ten days went by so fast but I truly enjoyed my three grandkids. We went to four different beaches, parks, eating out and cooking good spanish food at home etc.... What may be get more depressed then ever was that my six year old and oldest grandchild started to cry at the airport because she didn't want to leave me nor did I want to leave her. I was crying too and it was a mess. She said she loves Puerto Rico for two reasons because of me being there and that her daddy didn't have to work. How sweet and innocent is she? I can't believe how the anticipation of them coming and then they were here and now they are all almost back home.

Hiya lelin,
What you can keep always are the good memories of them all being there with you and you will be back together again soon enough.
Puerto Rico is a really beautiful and I would love to go there sometime too.
Saw the beaches on the Television so I can imagine how much you all enjoyed your days together.
So you can keep the memories from now and the memories of the future holidays too.
It is hard being apart it must be but you always have them in your heart.xxx

Yes so true and thank God for skype but what I miss is holding them and kissing them. I have to think of planning a trip for next year sometime.

I am glad that they came to visit. I can imagine that it was hard seeing them go. Hopefully you will be able to get together again soon. It sounds like you had a great visit.

It was a great visit and they plan on coming back in four years when the kids are older. So I will have to make plans to go and visit them within the next year or two. Four years without holding and playing with my grandkids is just too long of a time.

Well, if am in our place I would certainly feel the same. There are times we wish that happy times will last and the company of the people we love should always be. I guess we will just have to accept such fact that there are things that there are things beyond our control. But of course, you can always communicate with them from time to time to take alway the loneliness considering that there are many ways now to keep in touch. From there, you just hang on and look forward to another holiday coming for you and your family.

Thank you, and yes it really is but thank god for skype. I don't know how the grandparents from years ago did it when they lived so far away. I get to skype with my grandkids almost every other day at least and I love it.

What a great blessing that you were able to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with your family. However, I do know what you mean about being depressed about the fact that they've gone back home now as well.
It is very sweet that your grand daughter said that she loved Puerto Rico because of the fact that you are there and also because it does mean that her father doesn't have to go to work.
I certainly hope that it won't be all that long before you are able to see your children and grandchildren again.

Thank you I hope not too. Thank God though for skyping. If I didn't have that I would go crazy.

I know the feeling, I've felt the same when my sons, now grown, visited me. That's why I'm moving back to where they live as soon as I can sell my house.
Are you not from Puerto Rico originally? Can you move to where your family lives?
The good thing is that you can chat on Skype and email back and forth, although it certainly is not the same as holding a child on your lap reading to them.

They are living in New Mexico and I was there with them for three years but moved to Puerto Rico in 2010 to be with my hubby who was there building a house for us. I have gone out to visit them twice since being here. Its like you said skyping is great but holding your grandkids in your arms there is nothing more wonderful than that.
