Hello Lotters,
I can't believe that this territorial dispute would add to our societies daily problems and not to mention we still have internal conflicts with the MNLF, Bangsamoro Rebels, and the New People's Army. then add that to so many corrupt politicians and Government workers that supposed to service us fairly....
we have a lot of resources, our country is bigger than Hongkong, Singapore, and even taiwan, while almost equal to Japan in terms of landmass. but we totally screw it up, most specially when it comes to getting people elected. Our government services are deteriorating still. two most important department got into trouble with their salaries or benefits, one is PAGASA itself, second recently is our very own Department of Science and Technology
I haven't made discussions about our country because am personally fed up with it sometimes. so much talk but even I can't give a better solution, except what i can do back home.i guesss the only decent thing for me to do is not to vote, while vote if the person u think qualified isn't gonna win or won't do as he or she promised.

Well no one will never know what the future of our country of course but then I guess it is not right that we start losing faith with the system we have. Be grateful that we are still enjoying our basic freedoms despite the not so perfect kind of government that we have.
But try looking at the economic gains we have had this past few months. They are improving slowly. Though this may not be felt by the ordinary people of this country but it is being felt by the international community and that is a good sign. Although this slight economic gains is not enough to uplift us all we should not let lost hope that this present government would do his job until they finish their term.
It is not who won that is important here, it is important that we allow them to do their job right because they are the one elected by the majority. I think that is the real problem of cur country we cannot move on because when one wins and it was not our choice we tend not to support and respect the decision of the majority. I guess that is somehow what we Filipinos should learn just like what the US is doing right after the election. One concedes and the other wins and life goes on until the next election time comes. I thinnk we should be like that. After 2010 our lives should be focus on not bickering and blaming who's right and who's wrong but we should start moving and living back as a united Filipino again.

Hello Rsa101, I can't afford to gain trust on our politicians anymore because of their always never ending self centered agenda. the problem is that the most qualified never wins the election, always the popular and the ones who can pay the media to keep their abd things off them.

Yes,
most Filipinos won't accept defeat, and one of the most popular election mantra is "pag natalo, nadaya", so very few candidates are for real, will concede and accept defeat graciously. We Filipinos think about politics 365 days a year so it is not surprising that even the next election is still 2013, almost everybody is now busy campaigning! You're right, we must focus more for today and not indulge in the past and stop blaming who is right or wrong.
I wish our president should do that and stop always putting an accusing finger on his predecessor and start focusing on his leadership.

I am also fed up with this too. And I would imagine that other people in their respective governments are having this difficulty as well. It's kinda silly in my opinion because the people should be the priorities of the government. But I think in a sense we are still ruled by an oligarchy and their needs come first before the people. Governments should work for the people, It is an ideal but a little effort on the government’s part will not be missed. There will the critics but not everyday is an election day where popularity wins over. People have expectations and if they are not met, so criticism happens.
Don’t forget the brain drain. Even in the national scope, many people flock to Manila like it’s a jobseeker’s haven. It’s isn’t. It’s a jungle in a city. Personally, I don’t know the priorities of this government or what they have done to accomplish those. It‘s a midterm election and I hope the people who aren’t in the business of being elected or re-elected should focus on their jobs. The future of the Philippines, like any country, is unknown but it’s not a reason to be always in the status quo.

It's given that we have all the resources. But the thing is, we don't know how to use it well. :)

Hello toxic lifestyle, the problem is not how we use but who are the people we assign that should appointing people to at least find a way to utilize and preserve our natural resources properly. otherwise, you wouldn't be surprised about seeing a lot of pollution not only in metropolis but also in the provinces
