Perhaps your batter was too soft, or perhaps you didn't line the molds with enough butter to make them slip easily. Another would be perhaps the cookies are handled too rough - you need to be gentle while they're still hot because they will still crumble. I have tried those silicon molds, I was really afraid at first, but they were fine. There are some comfort though when using those aluminum ones because you don't fear that they'd tear up or get holes or even melt! hehee.. Try brushing with more butter or check the consistency of your dough prior molding and of course, when baking, give them enough space to rise (or grow). Good luck! Have a great mylot experience ahead!

Really?! It started to melt?! That would upset me as well because those things are not cheap! Perhaps more control over the heat?

Cut out cookies are a specific recipe that will not expand. This is one of my favorites that we used for Halloween and Thanksgiving. http://www2.gooseberrypatch.com/gooseberry/recipe.nsf/55e548eeef8c89b9852568d4004c5ffe/CBBA3BAE350C26AE8525784F006D4ACD

I don't get the big deal about these silicone muffin and cake pans. I mean, what's a cupcake without a cupcake liner? That liner is a "plate" to hold the cupcake so the cake isn't in your hands. The liner keeps the cupcake fresh...instead of just sitting in the open air and drying out. Cupcake liners are all colors and designs and look really cute/pretty sitting on the tray. I just don't get why anyone would want one or why there were even invented. THe silicone molds are a form of plastic. They just don't melt. But....all plastic or soft surfaces SCRATCH..no matter how gentle you are, they will eventually scratch. And when plastic scratches...that means food can get in and settle in that little tiny scratch and that leads to mold and grossness and posibly even food poisoning. I would much rather stay with metal pans, parchment paper and cupcake liners!

I bought some silicone molds for cup cakes a while ago and was very worried at what would happen. I even thought they could melt. But as I had bought them to use them, I put some cup cake dough in and baked them. They turned out fine and what was still better was that they did not break at all I sort of teared off the molds from the still warm cakes.
