Good morning people.
First day of work for this month and I do hope that everything will run smooth.
Our boss came late in the office this morning due to traffic as she have said. Then she went to the pantry to drink the notice our mugs. She said and warned us that she don't wanted to see mugs in the pantry, so we better get and keep it or else she might throw it in the trash can.And she mean it, she said.
Well I just quite wondering why since we already used to put our mugs in the pantry for a long time then eventually it is not allowed now. Then their mugs where in the pantry.Quite odd but no choice but to follow cause I don't want my mug thrown in the trash can cause it was a gift from friend.
Do you boss did odd things in your work?

Sometimes these small things are important. I know it's silly, but do as your boss wants and don't complain. Sometime later, maybe tomorrow or maybe next year she will be in a position to promote or fire someone. Se will remember who gave her a hard time or who annoyed her. Always make your boss happy if you value your job.

Always do what the boss wants. Even better if you can read her mind and do it without her saying anything. A happy boss is a good boss.

Yeah better now complain and follow what she said or wanted. I guess she was not in the mood that time since she arrived late at the office due to traffic as her driver said but she is not so much mad that time.

Well in our office we don't usually put our mugs in the pantry ,the mugs are usually with us coz everyone of us has our own drawer to put some personal things there.. ahaha well i guess your boss is not on the right mood that day,
but then yes you cannot do something with it coz she is your boss and you must follow her instructions.

One of my ex-boss don't allowed us to keep our mugs in the pantry, too. She said her pantry looks too messy with all the mugs from every staffs. Because my ex-company had around 30 over staffs. So imagine, if every staffs put their mugs on the pantry, it would be a big problem to those who want to use the pantry. Most of the time, i prefer to keep my mug on my table, which is the best option. Is your company having lots of staffs as well?

We are 17 in the head office but just few are using mugs which are thise who drink coffee. We really put it in the pantry ever since then all of a sudden she dont want to see any mugs there yet her mug is still there up to now. Well we just follow it since she is the boss.

I really don't know what is up with your boss, but I have to say that if I was the boss, I would have to say that I would rather my employees keep their mugs in the pantry or somewhere that is not on their desk as opposed to keeping them on their desks when they are not using them because it looks dirty, in my opinion, to have mugs on the desks at all times.
However, it could be that there has been some kind of a complaint that has been made about your keeping things in the pantry.

Often when a boss gets picky it can be a temporary dissatisfaction with something else. However, it could be she tried to get used to it but she is a neat freak and wanted things differnt.
Either way, it's a small thing so I would go along and not let the boss think you are unhappy with it. Best to pick your battles with the boss and keep them to a minimum...

Well yeah bosses are quite picky and moody sometimes so we just ride in their mood to avoid any misunderstanding in the end.

I worked at a daycare where the daycare director would find something I did wrong and point it out to me. One morning, I asked her if I did anything right. She said, yes, I do some things right. But never told me what they were. With being constantly reminded of any small thing that she didn't think I did right, I felt that had a bad effect on the babies I was looking after. It caused negative vibes in the room where I was looking after the babies. I did my best to look after those babies and was always doing something to improve the room or something for the parents. The daycare director was never satisfied. I think she was tired and therefore, lazy and didn't want anyone to outshine her. After a few months, I quit. I loved those babies but could not continue to work there. I hope this director found someone who won't outshine and she could be satisfied with. That is a sad way to run a daycare.

It is really important that we are enjoying out work or job cause it will really reflect on things that we do at work. Its hard to please some boss sometimes wherein there are just mistakes that was done but dont recognized the right and best things done.

May be today she wake up on the wrong side of the bed.
A bit moody and pick up on small little things to let go
her tension or stress. It is good you keep your own mug,
after all it has sentimental value to you, a gift from a
friend. I keep my own mug on my working table.

Perhaps your boss is wanting a cleaner and more enjoyable work space where everyone puts their stuff in their own area and the kitchen is always clean. Our work kitchen is often left a mess as people bring food and then forget it there for weeks.
