My computer is recently getting infected with viruses. It is really slow to begin with and I just managed to get the virus out of the computer. No prevent future problems, I need to know some reliable anti-virus and firewall softwares. Anyone has a small list of them?

Microsoft Essentials are free to use. You can use that as your anti-virus.

Besides installing anti-viruses, the best way is information among users and abstinence. Avoid visiting websites or installing software that you think are not license and are illegal because usually this are sources of viruses that may affect your computer.

BitDefender and Kaspersky are the Best! These two always get 5 stars from reviewers but it may lots of money So here are the combination I used to protect my self -Firewall from Comodo (Comodo Firewall) -Antivirus -AVG Free 2013 or -Avast Free Always keep your software up to date (except spywares :) )

If your computer has infected with viruses, I suggest you to do system restore. It will totally clean your PC. I used to work in software company. antivirus software is necessary and you should do regular scan with it. Maybe Norton ANTIVIRUS is the best choice for you. but I have no idea whether it is free or not.

Hi! I use avira free antivirus. It removes viruses effectively and does not affect system speed at all. You can also try Avast. But with regular updates, avast can get a bit slower at times. I hope you can safeguard your system in future :)
