Last Friday night, I went to Myanmar for a tour, to see the awesome attractions there, to take some pictures and buying some stuff. I traveled it for 7 hours by bus since that I am in the north of Thailand, so I'm quite near there. When I went back home last Sunday morning, it was so exhausted. It felts like you were in a bed ridden mode. LOLZ Anyway, I rest for awhile then woke up after 3 hours then doing some necessary stuff. In the evening I slept around 11:00pm momentarily, while I'm in a deep sleep I dreamed that there were an insects crawling and started to stick up around to my body, I tried to killed those but it added up and I just can't help myself. What an unusual feeling indeed, then I want to wake up during the attack of insects but I can't. My eagerness to move was severed but still I cant, even when you tried to speak and shout, NEVER! I'm totally conscious and aware and it felts that there's someone push you back and you just can't cheer yourself. After a minute of struggle, I'm glad that I overcame it. I did my best to move then suddenly during the huge battle, I able to moved my left shoulder then I stood up! whoa! I'm an excellent fighter. Thank God that I'm alive and surpassed it. Then I went back to sleep on my bed oppositely. It happens to me frequently when I'm so tired, I guess. What about you? Did you have any experience of sleep paralysis and what was the situation? You can share it here ! Have a nice day ! :)

It happens often when your body is very tired. You will die because of this if you won't be able to wake up because while in your dream you are finding it hard to move and breath, in reality it's the same with your body. And the more you are fighting, the more it's hard to move and breath. The technique for this is to stay calm and try as hard as you can to move your fingers and toes, that's where it always start.

Thanks for the tip VernaC.....next time I will try to remember to move my fingers and toes . Hope my senses will let me do it.......because you know in that situation we are just unable to do anything that we want.

Yes, I'm sorry that I didn't mention to my discussion about the technique, that's what I'm exactly doing during the attack to stay calm first then fight for it, if it is not effective, you can rest or calm for a seconds to recharge the energy to fight and it's truly effective. Sometimes I used my finger or toes to move if it is ineffective, I tried other parts of my body as long as you can move a bit at leastt. Thanks Vernac for your response. :) Have a great day ahead.

Yes, I agree, creepy and scary and it's just like we were choked during the attack. The important is we were recovered and able to fight against the horrible experience. And I returned to sleep back because others told me that during the recovery, you should sleep in your bed oppositely. Have a nice day ! :)

Yes, I do agreed , that some people cannot be fully recovered because of unwanted and unpleasant event and it's hard for them to sleep back. Let's just pray before we sleep.

I guess most of us don't really pray before going to sleep, some of us do but most of us are not. Well i must say that i just often pray before going to sleep, because most of the time it came off my mind due to being tired and sleepy

Personally I think in reality, this is a natural thought and feeling for a lot of people after having been on a long trip for a while. Especially if you are Super busy while on that trip as well. You never sleep as good away like you can at home, and since life is a little more busier you just need sleep later on. So it is true that when a person or their body is over tired, it can make it hard to move, and make them sense and experience odd thoughts and feelings as well.

Hello Nelerkz........nice discussion. Yes this has happened to me many times, usually when I am sleeping on my back. I suddenly feel that I have become heavy ,rigid and freezed and something scary is coming towards me from the darkness. My eyes are open but I cannot see exactly what it is.....I try to move, but I cannot, I try to shout but voice does not come out.......the only thing that brings me out of this scary situation is a small prayer which somehow I manage to say, and as I say it...slowly slowly I come out of that horrible situation. I don't know what is it. I now try to avoid sleeping on my back. I am happy that you started this discussion. lets see if there are more people who have similar kind of experience

I wrote above, that I try to gather all my strength and say a short prayer and as I am uttering the words, I feel I am coming into movement again from that paralyzed feeling. Also I try not to sleep on my back with crossed hands. Have a nice day.

That is a great idea also, we have different styles to overcome this unpleasant sleep disorder and it's just only us to intervene if what is the best to fight! Have a great day too. :)

It's like a nightmare. You got to try to wake yourself up whenever this happen to you. My mom would experience the same thing every now and then. Most of the time she would say she's calling me or other family members. She is shouting but we cannot hear her.

I can remember once when I was about to wake up, suddenly I felt like I couldn't move my legs. I got nervous suddenly and stared at the ceiling checking my senses if im still OK. I called someone to accompany me because I thought I am having some stroke issue or whatever.

It's just a nightmare my friend. Since you've said that you are too exhausted, having long hours of bus ride. I guess , you have not rested enough before you went to sleep. Most of the time this happens when someone is too tired and goes straight to bed. I think I have experienced the same thing, I thought I was awake but the fact is I'm sleeping. And the minute I wakes up I can only remember a part of what I have dreamed.

Yes actually I have one of this experience and after that I went to the hospital and my doctor told me that it happened just because I under a great deal of pressure. So just learn to how release your stress then this phenomenon will disappear sooner or later.

I have experienced it also years ago. I was having afternoon nap and was sleeping in a cot. My little siblings were playing then. I know I was awake but I can't move. It was when one of my siblings bumped on the cot that I was able to move. I did pray after that for I was scared with what I experienced.

I always experience nightmare whenever Me and my daughter are alone in the house. I have always a paranoia that there will be an intruder and come to steal something in the house. And everytime it is always a man in all black so it really scares me. I like to scream hard but I can't it's like screaming out into my lungs but no voice that comes from my mouth. So whenever that happens I will suddenly remember what older people said when you have nightmares that you should move your thumb on your toes, just make it move so hard until you finally are awaken.

When this happen i try to kick and try to open my eyes. Sometime it's funny when i watch it happen to my older brother when he do all things to wake up. What the cause of this? Why it just happen sometime?

Sleep paralysis is common among everyone because your body actually paralyses itse3lf so that you do not act out your dream in real life while sleeping and injure yourself. Sometimes people wake up, but are still paralyzed. This may be scary but is not life threatening, you will recover shortly.

This happened a few years back, I was cycling along when this car came up too close and knocked me off my bike, well it's the shock that hits you first, fortunately I was close to home, I ached but thought nothing more of it, anyhow I woke up the next morning, totally stiff, as though I was paralyzed, I thought it was a dream at first but when I came too I realized I was awake but couldn't move, I started to panic but eventually I was able to move slowly, fortunately my partner was around and helped me get into a taxi and took me to A&E. I had badly bruised my left arm and leg, fortunately they weren't broken or fractured, but it was a horrid experience, lying there thinking what if I can't move, what if I am stuck in bed permanently?

I have never experienced it but I know that it is sleep paralysis. It is quite scary. I read some pretty scary experiences in this forum. Just check this out. http://roohikhan.hubpages.com/hub/Do-you-have-Sleep-Paralysis-The-Old-Hag-Syndrome These are quite scary incidents. But I don't believe that this is anything supernatural. Some people at this link say that these are all supernatural things and the devil taking over or something. I think it is scary but no devil.

I experienced that once. I was only 18 that time and that was 13 years ago. I thought I was having a nightmare. I kept on shouting and crying for help but no voice coming out from me. I tried to moved my body but I can't. After minutes battling with myself I moved my left leg then my reflexes came back. I prayed after that, giving thanks to the God for helping me. All of my knowing I thought I had encountered the most terrifying nightmare and so glad I survived it. Thanks to you for now I know it's about sleep paralysis. What is the cause of this? I am not tired that time. Still don't know why...
