Why are they paying us to talk on mylot?

I am curious as to why they pay us to discuss things. I would do this kind of thing for free? This isn't a fake site either. I have made 30$ on here directly into my paypal account. There doesn't seem to be more advertising on here than on sites like facebook etc, so where is the catch? Is there a catch?
