Can Online lectures beat actual in-class lectures?

Well this topic just came in my mind today, so thought of posting it quickly on mylot. On one hand, online lectures can allow students to work at their own speed. If they are watching a lecture video, they can rewind the topic again and again, which a professor teaching in a class will not do! ;D They can keep in touch with their professors by mail and chat... They wont have distractions of other students besides them, So they can concentrate peacefully.. But on the other hand, its got disadvantages too.. You cant raise your hand ask the video your doubt .. If you get bored from lectures, you might log in to facebook and other time pass sites...and start chatting or playing games .. You cannot get personal attention from online lectures, and siting in front of the computer for a long can affect ur eyes. So there is no personal interaction, But the Idea of Online lecture would be still good!! What say friends??

In my personal opinion, I prefer traditional type of class lecture. Since you will learn more the actual practical application of the academic part. The online lectures are very convenient, but there is a limitation of learning process of the subjects.

online lectures have a lot of advantages, such as you can have it at any time if you like, you can play it over and over again until you can understand it. But people cannot self-control will learn nothing from online lectures since they are easily distracted by online games or other. Moreover, there is no instant discussion when you have doubt. BUT real class lectures can do this. you can share your opions immediately with your classmates and get difficulties solved.

I find that I need actual in-class lessons, because it is more structured, guided and planned, and there is help at hand, from other students and of course the teacher and I find I can understand better when something is explained to me face to face, rather than on-line. I did a computer course on-line once, and it was a total waste of money, I gave up in the end. There are too many distractions if you try to learn from your own home.

What I don't like about online lectures is the lack of real interaction between students and the teacher. I like the convenience of online banking and not having to line up when I'm paying my bills but I don't like everything to be too virtual. Even though I like texting with my friends I still prefer to meet them at times and interact with them too.

I prefer the usual lecturing face to face then the on line lecture. Yeah you are right. It will be destructive if it will be on online because there are a lot of destruction like online games and social networking sites. The students will not have a focus on what is the lesson and there is no restriction when they do it alone. Self discipline must implement in on line lectures.

Depends on time and the person taking it. If a person has a discipline of really working on a program, whether it is home school or on line learning it will still be effective. Home school and online education have some homeworks and tasks to accomplish too. So if the person will really have the heart of doing it, then it will be no problem he will learn. specifically if graduate or masteral studies. and the time for these adults is crucial because they have jobs to do. However, it is not really advisable for kids because they need to learn not just lessons in different subject areas but also they need to learn how to socialize and how to work with other children. These are their foundation in the future.

I think it will take some time. Since online lectures are for the people who want to study. As to the lazy students, it will not work well for them. Besides, it seems that online lectures don't give a certificate as well as the real class lectures. So there are still many people who want to study in the real class.

Those points you mentioned are well thought of. I think choosing between classroom and online lecture should be based on your needs, your purpose and your expectations. I would personally want a classroom discussion more than an online lecture, because I believe I can learn better with face to face interaction with the professor and other students.

for me, studying or listening lecture though net isn't good way to learn because, there's big difference between Actual, and Visual, In Visual, you'll just need to do is to listen on the lecture, you can watch it anytime you want, unlike in Actual, you can only listen once, in visual, when your going to ask question, you should email his/her, in actual, you can ask question direct to the person, and you'll receive answer after you ask the question, But people are also interested on Visual or Online learning, cos this is hassle free, just open your computer connect to internet, and you can learn, :D and there's Online lectures that was free,

i prefer actual in-class lectures. there are some ideas that other students may ask or suggest that may have supplement all your own personal understanding of the lesson.
