Each of us may be having some talent in them. And if you are told to present your talent one day in front of any audience for the first time, you obviously get pretty nervous... But if you keep on participating whenever you get the opportunity, it builds your confidence and reduces your fear. And one day, you'll get fearless.. I have a talent of singing, And I was told to sing 5 years ago in my school, I got nervous and afraid... But I accepted the challenge..... I tried to ignore the audience, The show went Ok....Every time i was told to participate in any events/competitions, and due to that, my stage fear almost disappeared. Have you ever done any stage show ? Tell me your story!!

Yes i do believe strongly in what you have stated. Instead of being disturbed if we present out ideas, opinions boldly before the audience then it definitely influences the public as well as increases our confidence level. In my childhood i was very shy but as and when i have to attend meetings, seminars in my job i was totally became bold and free to do anything at ease.

Hey GandharD! I'm so glad you have had stage opportunities. Public speaking alone is said to be the number one fear. I was fortunate to have participated in an adult public speaking club, a historical musical play with my local little theater group, a couple off-Broadway type musical shows with my Mardi Gras krewe and singing in my church band. I've also competed in my high school speech and debate team, won a state foreign language festival twice, won the office of secretary of my senior class and competed at different levels for my adult public speaking club. In addition, I've had many situations where I've had to speak in front of groups of people. I think practice definitely contributes to one's stage confidence. I still get a little nervous, but it doesn't get in my way anymore. Peace! :-)

It's the same with interviews as well, especially when you have to present yourself in front of many interviewers, it can be very daunting and a scary experience. I was once told that if you imagine the interviewers or audience as being naked it takes away your fear, I tried this once and had this in my head and it made me laugh and that doesn't go down well if you start laughing for no reason at all. I don't think I would have the courage to doing a stage show, so I admire you for doing it.

Oh yes, many times. I was a stage actress in high school, a declaimer and orator, then I did hosting in events, etc. I am a stage person and I also love to dance and sing.

Yes, That was very effective. When i was in elementary, I was a very shy person. I do only have one friend and never I got the chance to joined in any activities or shows or any competition. I was so timid that time. But then when I was in high school I was forced to lead my section for I was the president. I did not have a choice that moment and we have to be competed in a speech choir. So I pursued and tried to lead a team. Of course, I was too nervous that time and I did not know that my classmates will follow. Thanks God I did it and we won the contests.

I have ! Several fashion shows and even drama shows. For me fashion show wasnt really a confidence booster because you arent actually facing the audience because all you see is black because of the lighting . The actual confidence boosters was drama shows where you can see, hear and feel the audience responses.

I did! But it was only back in my younger days. I attended a singing contest and a beauty contest as a kid. Then I was also sent as a contender for an elocution contest back in high school. It did build up my confidence a bit, I would get nervous but I loved what I was doing, which was speaking in public. Somehow as the years went on I didn't feel too confident anymore. I became more of a recluse especially starting in college when I had to be serious with school work because I had to maintain my grades for an academic scholarship. It's a good idea that you never gave up joining those talent shows. We all have to start small and even if we fail many times, it doesn't mean we're a failure. It just means our time has not yet come. Besides even failures can land us great opportunities that we never even thought possible.

That's true my friend. Once you are exposed to showing your talents you would be more confident of showing it anytime at any place. That's because it is said that "Constant practice makes perfect".

Yes. Nervousness can be overcome by more exposure since experience is the best teacher. I know a few who can perform in front of the audience well and there are also those who can sing or perform only when after taking shots of liquor. So that in the absence of that stuff, they loose their nerve to even excuse themselves.

Yes and I can still remember that the first time I was taking in front of audiences I even did not know what I am taking about,it is so nervous at that time. But after so many practices now I can not say I am fearless at all but I can say that I quite peace and with confidence right now,and will not scare about that any more.
