A better place? NOT

I don't want to get into the religious ramifications of this but hearing people tell me that my loved one is in a better place when they die pisses me offf! Maybe they just don't know what else to say but although they may not be in pain or discomfort and "with God" I think the 'better place' is here with me on earth. It gets on my nerves so bad to hear that. I would rather they say their sorry because of course they are but I've been to 3 wakes in the last few months. The youngest one was the son of a friend of mine and although he's probably with God his place is with his family. How do you feel when you hear that about a loved one? Do you really think they are in a better place?

I don't like hearing it but it's just for lack of anything else to say and the intent to say something comforting. And you're right - the "better place" is here with me. My mother passed away in 2005 and she was not in any pain or discomfort. She was just very old and frail. A better place would be here with me. As someone else said, I'd rather hear a "Sorry for your loss" than "She's in a better place".

monologue again? you are not alone now. Yes, where else would you think are they now if there is "no better place". Would like to conquer the idea that she's just like a leaf, when dried just go along with the ground and eventually becomes a fertilizer? If the loved ones parted, we wouldn't want them to be just vanished in the air and the larva eat their bodies. it will be painful for us, of course, we love the person. We would always want to think that they are somewhere where there is no more pain, no more hurt, no problem, this eases us.. this gives us assurance that losing them is not bad at all. thinking that there is a better place for them benefits us more than them. Because we will be relieved and we will be more at peace.

Yes , better place , they mean that place where they can no longer feel pain , be troubled , no more sadness , injustice , greediness , poverty and so forth. Often heard this from folks and this is a good consolation to those who are left , we will no longer worry for them for they are now at peace , that's why said it is being said better place because ultimate peace can be experienced. not like in the world where we are revolving wherein there is so much trouble , struggle , injustice , famine and even war , so we can't be at all in peace.

I don't like to think that they are in bad place, would you? I always think that they are indeed in a better place.. if not where are they? I don't like to think that they are still in the house. that will be so spooky and eerie... so where are they? they are in the a better place. I don't like think that they were displaced and they were somewhere wandering... so where are they? they are in a better place.
