Are you going vegetarian or vegan?

I am a vegetarian going vegan. At first, I cut out beef, chicken and pork flesh over 20 years ago. The pork was the hardest to let go of, because I loved pepperoni and bacon. Then a few months ago, I gave up seafood. I just told my family, and that was the end of it. I simply didn't eat it anymore from that day forward. Now, I am working on letting go of eggs, butter and cheese from my diet. It takes some research and experimenting, but thanks to the web, there is much information out there to be had for the asking. You just have to evaluate to make sure it is trustworthy. Don't believe everything you read on the web, you know? So what changes are you making in your diet? Are you trying to go vegetarian or vegan, like me? If so, please tell me about your experience. How are you going about it? Best wishes! :-)

I cut out pork two years ago. It was easy, well except for the pork chops. I really liked my chops. I haven't had any kind of pork since. A year ago, cold turkey, I went vegan. I cut out all dairy, cheese, eggs, and meat. I was raw for about two months. This past summer I added eggs back in, because I really missed them, so now we are more ovo vegetarian than anything. We eat a little cheese, usually when it comes on a pizza. I don't like pepperoni, so I always pick it off. I plan to go raw once I get a juicer and a dehydrator, but right now taking things slow until the kids and I move into our house.

Sounds like you're doing a great job, Arieles, doing what works best for you where you're at, with plans for the future. I have been raw vegan before, when I had a supportive partner who was familiar with many dietary options. It made it easier to have someone to consult with questions and discuss things with who understood what I was doing, even if he was omnivore. Right now, I'm just longing for a simple little sprouting jar lid set and a centrifugal juicer. Best wishes! :-)

Burger King offers Morningstar Farms Veggie Burgers any way you want them, if you'd ever like to try one. Also, at WalMart, there are Morningstar Farms, BocaBurger and other vegetarian burgers in different flavors to try. Best wishes! :-)

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i am pure non vegan by nature but that does not mean absence of fruits and vegetables in my diet but i hardly find any reasons to go vegan completely and i strongly feel that our diet should be strictly a mixture of vegan and non vegan foods and no doubt there are certain people around us who are completely vegan by nature and if they are then they have to work on the proteins as it is largely received when taking non vegan foods. What say?

Thanks for responding. I think everyone can choose whatever diet they feel best suits them, so long as they keep it nutritious and reasonably healthy re obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. Of course, there are some with food allergies. I like being vegetarian going vegan, because it feels right to me to eradicate animal products from my meals and I feel better physically. I try to include protein through seeds, nuts and so on. There are still many changes left to make until my diet is where I want it to be, both vegan and nutritionally balanced. It's very much a learning process. What say you? Best wishes! :-)

I haven't eaten meat for almost fifteen years, but I do eat fish, I love it. Whenever people call me vegetarian I correct them and tell them I'm a pescetarian. Neverthless, whenever I seat with other people to have lunch it seems that there is no other thing to talk about apart from what type of diet I have.
