I have never expected such a wonderful performance by team India in the elite Champions Trophy this year in Melbourne.Indis topped their group after league matches even after conceding a 2-3 defeat against the Olympic champions Germany. But India defeated England and Newzealand in two consecutive encounters. Then they thrashed Belgium to enter the semifinals.Today they lost against Australia and failed to make it to the final. This was expected. But this was the first time India after 2004 when India entered the semifinals. It's really a morale boosting performance.

i may not be from india, but i cheer teams from asia. there is always a pride from winning games in any sports. india has achieved enough to win games and enter the semi-finals. i hope they continue to improve and win more games next time.

I too hope Indian hockey has entered its golden age with this unexpected performance in Champions trophy. The story might have been quite different had the Indian team not been injury-hit.

Indian hockey team is second to none in the world. We can win the Olympic gold and also the world cup. What our hockey team needs is sufficient exposure, coverage and encouragement. We have no dearth of talent.

Hockey lacks encouragement.Coverage both in print and electronic media is reserved for cricket and cricketers. They are awarded coverage even when they concede a shameful defeat.Cricket has money that hockey does not have.Cricketers go on getting rich and richer.Cricket has eclipsed not only hockey, but also all other games and sports.
