would you wear a two-piece bikini at the beach?

Well here's the thing now because in our place, wearing any swimsuit, one piece or two-piece, is such a big deal. I mean, women here in general are not used to this. So this gym in which I am a member will have a beach party for their Christmas celebration. The problem is, the women members are encouraged to wear two-piece bikini during the party. Hmmm...I am not sure how many of the women members will take to this. I mean, why do we need to wear that? This could be one reason why many women will not go if this is going to be made a requirement. How about you? Would you be brave enough to wear a two-piece?

Why would they encourage that? It seems to me that you could wear anything you want at a party. At my age...no no bikinis here but back in the day!

I don't know. Maybe it's because the men will be wearing skimpy trunks to show off their 6-pack and they want the women to do the same.

yes why should they encourage? But many women don't like to show off their body. They should keep this in mind.

I think we need to be confident about our body then we can wear anything. I am not comfortable so i cannot wear a two piece bikini. The idea should be left to the members what they want to wear ,they should not be forced .

Well, as of this writing, the party already happened and many of the members really wore appropriate swimsuits. I wasn't there so I didn't have to worry about that.

I think it is absurd to wear a garment you are not comfortable with and that the gym is doing wrong by asking that of their members. Each country has its culture and it seems that where you leve, a bikini is not something that you accept easily. It is not a matter of being brave, but it is about how you feel with your body with a bikini.

Wearing these things in the beach is almost expected but knowing your place is not yet totally open to this, you should think about it :) I actually just came from a beach party this weekend and wore long sleeves with because I did not want my skin to burn under the sun! Haha

Long sleeves? Well, with the heat of the sun, I can understand that.

I am not 18 years old any more but I will give it go... Can't promise it will look pretty, but I would hate to reach my final day and to be asked by my children "Any regrets, Dad?"

My body is not that great and even if they always tell women that it's ok to wear a swimsuit or two piece because it's the beach, I'm still not comfortable wearing them. There are swimming clothing that is not a swimsuit or two piece. I'm not just confident and becomes paranoid when someone looks at me. But if I have a supermodel body and skin, I will wear them.

We're quite similar there, feeling paranoid when someone stares and you're in that outfit, that can be nerve-wracking.

I dare not to wear bikini at the beach. Although I am thin, but I don't have a good shape to show off Besides, I am a shy person and I will never dare to wear sexy clothes. So it is impossible for me to wear bikini in public.

If I had the body to wear a bikini I would wear one all the time during the summer! Unfortunely I am obese and a bikini is not for me. Even if I lose the weight,my body is not made for a bikini. I would wear a one peice if I would have the change to swim on a regualr bases. Finding one would be hard! With my body shape and the price of swimsuits,it would take awhile to find one!

If you are not interested in wearing them, why do you want to wear them. The main purpose of the party is to free yourself in the way you are comfortable with.It is not for the entertainment of others that you should do something. The women going there must enforce this,so that you are given a dress code or such similar thing to attend the party.Have fun.Do share your experience at the party.

If I am one of your members, I prefer not to attend than to wear swimsuit.

This is a cultural thing and I am British so wearing a two piece bathing costume is no big deal. I remember the first time I did it and I felt very self conscious although I was young and slim. I think a two piece that is sensible and not skimpy can be fine. I still wear a two piece although I am no longer young or slim and I see people on the beach (I live in Greece) at least 75 or even 80 years old wearing two pieces. They look better in one! I would not go to a party in a bikini - even a beach one. If I were asked I would refuse. Bravery does not come into it but perhaps a little wisdom does. Easpecially if it will mean making a spectacle of yourself in other people's eyes. Think carefully and consult your peers.

Yes, that is quite a big deal. One should think carefully wearing a two-piece bikini. For me, I won't wear it. I know I'm quite conservative and secondly I don't want to wear such thing in a Christmas celebration or in other occassion. It is quite strange for me. Have a nice day!

If everyone else is wearing something like this, I will also wear one. However, I like to be a little more modest, so I would make sure that it was a "boy short" bottom and a reasonable top. I'd wear a dress over it until I actually swam. I think it's fine, but after spending too much time in conservative places, I have a hard time showing so much skin in public.

I've never owned a bikini in my life, even when I had the body to look good in one. I wore a two-piece every once in a while then, but I would never wear a two-piece now. This should be a decision for each woman, not a mandate from someone.
