A week ago i was stopped by a traffic policeman for not wearing a helmet. I told him that i forgot to wear it as i was in a hurry to go somewhere. He demanded 400 bucks from me, which i was ready to give (as a fine) but he did not want to give me the receipt. I asked for the receipt, he said "Go now". Gathering some guts I told him ' I wont give you a single penny unless you give me a receipt of amount i am paying. I quarelled with him for a long. At last he tore a receipt of Rs 200. While i was leaving from there, I shouted at him ,"You guys are a disgrace to the society"... And Indeed they are.. People who ask for bribes are the worst elements of the society. In India, these cases happen to occour frequently, and some people just give away the bribe money in order to go from there quickly. This encourages corruption and it becomes a habit for the police. Nowadays there is corruption everywhere. Each officer wants a bribe, as it is an easy way of earning. Some people give it too, in order to get their work done faster and quicker. Most corruption cases are seen in Government offices, Police stations, Railway etc..Starting from a Peon to a top Politician, everybody is corrupt. Politicians are the biggest worms of corruption. They are like, Killing the country slowly and steadily... They are having Billions and Zillions of money in their Swiss Bank accounts, still they are not satisfied! If you ever come across a person demanding bribe from you in an indirect way, blaming his position for his personal gain, or any such corruption matter, please report it to the authorities concerned and they will take action against him. Have you ever fallen prey to a corruption case?

hi gandhar, how are u..Im sry for what happened with you..but i appreciate what you did with the cop. Seriously it takes lot of guts to argue with the cops..in situation when you have committed a mistake in the first place, and it happens in mumbai all the time..as everyone is in hell of a rush..but i believe its time to take stand against corruption, which will atleast bring some change in the society.. But honestly speaking, don't you think that it is ours mistake as we should be the one who should not give bribes and pull out some time to go thru some leagal formalities to teach such people a lesson..But the fact is we dont want to do that coz we think that its a waste of time as nothing is goin to happen .. First if we have to bring a change in our country..we have to change our thinking first..take a stand against corruption don't give bribe to anyone one..that does not implies to cops but in every sector, specially in government offices where you have give money so that one document can be moved from one table to another.. And if we can't do anything, then we don't have a right to say "kya hoga is country ka."

You are right!! We do wrong things ourselves, even throw garbage here and there, pollute the environment, Choose the wrong political party and then say "Kya hoga iss desh ka" But we ourselves are not knowing that First of all Citizens are responsible for keeping India clean and green! And speaking about corruption, It has to stop some day. It will begin from us, if we dont give any sort of bribe to anyone. When Anna Hazare started his campaign against corruption, I thought that Yes!! This is something thats going to be big, and corruption will surely stop! But Now Where is Anna? What is he doing? I dont know.... The 'Anshan' thing doesnt seem to have much affect...

absolutely..things get started in india for a better cause, but they survive long. There are devils and culprits who always try to pull you down. In case of anna hazare..most of the people are not aware what is he up to..but atleast he stood for a common man and brought a small change..Even at this age hez got guts to stand..all we need is a moral support and rest goes on fine..but one should make sure that he has to fight till the end and not to leave the battle in between..

This is just another example of why I like living in the USA. If a cop ask for a bribe he will get turned in and not only will he lose his job but will be taken to jail for up to 20 years. I think this helps to keep the bribes well hidden and only in the top circle of Government.

Oh well, my friend, even here in the Philippines that always happen. Though, i am proud to say, that with our present president, corruptions such as this on small guys has lessened.

Yes, I already experienced that before. Me and my friend rode in a scooter late at night. Same with you,we've been stopped by a cop because we did not wear helmets both. We do apologized but he still threatening us that the scooter should be surrender by us as our punishment. But he gave us an option and that was to give him any amount in that moment and unfortunately I do not have with me. I did not bring anything except for my cellular phone but my friend has so I think he gave $50 because that's the only money he has. We were very disappointed because before the cop receive that amount he asked us if we see some CCTV camera. I did not know what to feel that time. I got pissed off and somewhat burst in laughter.
