Why Pacman ate the canvas?

Hi everyone, So the whole world is shocked by the unexpected turn of events when Marquez landed that "lucky" right hook and sent The Pacman to the canvas chewing it for a few minutes. It is expected, the way Pacman kept on making the initiative and the Dynamite keeping a defensive counter-offensive tactic, the moment came when the latter got too confident by the blooded nose of the latter and ended up with that celebrated dynamite punch on the face of the Filipino champ. Now, one story goes buzzing about his defeat being due to his leaving the Roman Catholic Church and adopting a different religion. I know it may outlandish but who among us can make a real reason for his defeat? It seems to be the underlying current right now, your opinion may shed some light to the questions that filled the silent spectators the world over, "Why and how could it happen?"

A boxer has to think not only how to defeat the opponent but how he himself can be defeated. I think Pacman should learn how to save himself aside from destroying the opponent. I remembered my childhood because I punched some kid multiple times but when I was through I got punched back at the face out of the blue. Marquez did something unforgettable the way my childhood foe did to me.

I don't think so. If he's so serious then why still fight? There's no reason for him to fight if he's really thinking of his religion. If doesn't fight, then he won't hurt anybody. I guess that Marquez really saw the opening and put all his strength to punch him which made him kiss the canvass. Because I saw the slow motion of the video and he's not defensing himself. Or he may be tired of all the extra curricular activities like politics, tv shows, commercials, social life, his family and the preaching. He's just a human and knowing he does all that is quite impressive. So, even though he kissed the canvass, he will still be the number one boxer who brought pride to the Filipino people.

The reason why Pacquiao lost was because he didn't listen to his strength and conditioning coach, Alex Ariza. He focused more on his "boxing program" and completely abandoned his strength and conditioning regime. This hurt Pacquiao real bad. He could have taken that right hook by Marquez unfazed but he wasn't strong enough. Also, Marquez's right hook wasn't a lucky punch. He practically practiced it all throughout his training program. His changing of religion might have also affected him mainly because of a change in his psyche. Great athletes have 'rituals' before every game and this might have affected Pacquiao's rhythm.

hi, many people said that punch of Marquez was a lucky punch only because as we can see the fight Marquez have the most injured face compare to Manny, and in the fight they really have a good fight because they punch vice versa and that was really exciting.

I don't think Pacman's changing his religion has to do with his defeat in the hand of Marquez. What I saw was his eagerness to get Marquez eat the canvass left his defense open and Marquez saw the opportunity and instead sent him to the canvass for good. Boxing is not only a matter of offense but also a matter of defending and parrying your opponent's blow. This is the basic rule of boxing he must never forget...

I'm not sure of what to say regarding your post but there is one thing I really think I'm sure of, and that is "his changing of religion has nothing to do with his defeat". In the first place, Marquez was not an easy opponent so there is a possibility that he could also win. In addition, Pacquiao admitted that he became over confident and went careless, so this maybe one of the reasons.

I do not think this is really about the religion and the reason why pacman left his religion in order to join a new one. People change, our views may be tampered, we may also change our ideas, whatever we have become, that is through our years of being with someone or group of people... Sometimes the decisions we make will change the course of our lives, him losing in the game is not only about his changing religions, it can be because of him lacking preparations, and him not in his right game due to loss concentration and that his attention is divided into many things, service by being a politician, him being the family man, being the boxer, the filipino's pride all weighin on his shoulder. I guess its just about time that all these would cause him to fall down.
