Have any of you guys tried investing in stocks before? I'm just starting to get into this now. I have a few stocks in my portfolio, just trying to learn about everything, and get better at it. I've always been intrigued by earning money through investing. So, if any of are investors, my question is, what was your first stock? For me, my first stock was WWE. I bought their stock just to help dedicate myself to becoming educated on the subject. Now, I have a few more, but I'm still just learning. I have actually withdrew any money yet.

Which brokerage firm are you using for your trades and how much do you have invested roughly if I may ask? I have been trading stocks now for 15 years and love it, I enjoy a good read and review of a company like anyone else and feel confident whenever I purchase shares that I know enough about the company to make an educated guess and also set clear goals going forward so I know when to sell or hold etc. Good Luck

I use sharebuilder.com right now. Currently, I don't have too much invested, only a couple hundred dollars. I'm still learning, like I said. But, I'm having fun getting my feet wet. I'm also setting aside a small portion of my income to regularly put into my account, that way I can actually have a nice balance to work with, one day.

Sharebuilder is great for small trades but when you start increasing the volume try and change to Interactive Brokers, they charge $1/trade and $10/month but with many trades you can save some good cash.

Thanks, that's good to know. I'll definitely look into them in the future. Yeah, it would only take a couple trades for it to be a better deal. I've had an account at sharebuilder for a long time, so I just figured I'd use it to jump in. I've heard that they don't have the best rates, but that they are a good, reliable company, so I' figured I'd give them a shot. I wanted to learn about the stock market after all, not about brokers.

I don't speculate in the stock market but I've bought the stock of a telecommunication company in my country. I earn dividends every year and I don't spend them. It's kept in my savings for my retirement.

That is one of the reasons I bought the WWE stock, they pay dividends. I thought about it, and I don't think I'd ever want to sell it. It's much cooler to me to support and be a part of the company.

Well stocks I have never tried but I have tried Forex, there sometimes I use to win sometimes I use to lose money. So ultimately stopped in that. Also planning to try stocks sometime, but quite afraid to do so.

I've tried forex, too, and I prefer stocks, so far. I think they are a little easier, even though I would have figured that forex would haven the easier option. I had a little success in forex, and then a larger failure. I'm interested in just running a practice account for awhile, to maybe get my skills and knowledge up to par.

i need to buy new stock.my family always had some.had some exxon before, had to sell to pay a medical bill. thankfully,i sold it before valdez happened. i would recommend buying things people use every day-gas,utilities,toilet paper,tampons..even if there's a gas spill,it does go back up eventually. i would also recommend reinvestment of dividends for a few years of new shares to build your portfolio.
