Negotiations for a 10th season up in the air

The show is currently in the 9th season and there are some snags in the negotiations for a 10th season which would be the last. Just about everyone on and connected with the show has their contracts ending this season which is one thing. Another thing is that Jason Segel(Marshall) has been having success in movies and may not come back for a 10th season which would there would not be a full cast. Time is running out for the final decision to be made since they need time to end things properly with disclosing who the mother of Ted's children is, etc. if this is to be the final season. A 10th season without Marshall just wouldn't seem right so that is really a problem that could affect the decision for a 10th season or not. I know I certainly want a really good wrap up of the show with regard to who the mother is.

All your facts are somewhat accurate besides the fact that the show is in their 8th season and may renew for the 9th season unlike what you said that they are in the 9th season and may renew fot the 10th. Thanks.

I wanted Victoria to be the mother. I read how the writers regret writing the show in a way that makes it impossible for Robin to be the mother. I don't watch the show faithfully. SOO many shows try to do another season without a key cast member and it never works out well (see The X-Files, That 70's Show...)
