Thinking about best responses...

I don't get many responses to my discussions making it hard to decide on a best response. I'm curious...if you pick a best response do members still read them? Does marking a best response help anyone like the person who wrote it or the person who gets best response? I wonder why we have that option...do you know why? Do you earn for getting or giving best response.

It really doesn't matter to me whether there is a BR or not. I respond if I like the topic and it's of interest to me or the rest of myLot. It does make the person feel good when you do choose this, so I make sure I do choose every time I start a discussion. It is sometimes hard though to pick who you think should receive it and I have trouble with that all the time because there are sooooo many good one's.
I usually let a discussion go for about a week or even two before I pick the best response. If you pick tooo early, some people won't respond because that's what they're after is the BR. I've seen some people do it the same day, or even the next day...that's just kind of early to me. Give people enough time to see your discussion because people are so very busy and don't come here everyday.
Some people here will respond to a discussion that is many years old...that does make me laugh but what the heck...if it interests you, why not?

Receiving, or awarding, a Best Responses does nothing at all, except make someone happy because their response was chosen among all of the others available.
There are no extra earnings, no extra pojnts and no extra reputation. Nothing at all.
However, the thought that you have made someone's day should make the time that it takes to award it, assuming that there is one that stands out as deserving it, worthwhile

I'm sure that the user who received it felt good too and would possibly see it as an incentive to return to your future topics.

I still read and respond to discussions even if a "best response" has already been chosen. There is no reason not to do so.
Seeing that a "best response" has been selected may scare off some newer members from a discussion. However, I don't think that it would have such an effect on most, if any, members who have been here for a while.

I have given out best responses, as well as I have received them. It just makes me happy when I get them, and it also makes me feel good when I can give it to someone else. I have responded to many discussions that have alreaqdy had the best response chosen, and it never bothered me at all, as when I respond, I give my feelings, and it matters not to me whether I get a best response or not. I am not out to score any brownie points for doing so either. It can be very difficult to give out the best response at times, as you might have several with good responses, and you just have to read them over again, and decide which one was better. It really ddoesn't amtter if you give out best response either, as if your discussion is one that is interesting, you iwll still get responses to it anyway. I haven't given out the best response to all my discussions as it is hard to keep up with them all. The one thing I did though, was made sure I commented back to all the responses I received, which weighs more than giving the best response. Take care, and have fun mylotting.

I join mylot 2 years before but yet only 1 response was my best response. This is difficult for me also to select the best response. My most of the discussions are unresolved because no time for all these. No earning on best response this is only the way for appreciation of the responder.
