A 180-degree turning point in my life for the better...

In the past, I used to be unmindful of my actions to the extent of hurting others. My principle was based only on my self-satisfaction that as long as I feel satisfied and happy, I am doing just right. I got so hooked on material things that I forgot to make others happy. The whole time I was focused only of fulfilling my own whim. Then, at a sudden point in time, I felt a spiritual realization of the need for a self-renewal. I didn't know how it came but it did at a perfect timing. GOD has given me another chance to live my life the right way and for me to ultimately achieve eternal happiness. Now my life is worth living for than ever and I am more than happy and grateful I've still reached my turning point in life before everything comes too late. It may not be easy living it up but I know for sure that the sacrifice is worth it.

“Self-observation brings man to the realization of the necessity of self-change. And in observing himself a man notices that self-observation itself brings about certain changes in his inner processes. He begins to understand that self-observation is an instrument of self-change, a means of awakening.” George Gurdjieff http://thinkexist.com/quotes/with/keyword/realization/ Wow such a nice realization you have here... and it is always good to know that a person could really change because of simple Faith. Yes, and now that you have seen a new perspective in life, everything will follow accordingly. But hey, don't forget that there will be failures, trials and challenges along the way ok? for these are also part of journeying into life. Don't be upset and lose hope if some things will not fall in its place with just a flick of your fingers.. but there should always be Faith, and hope and love...

Thanks for those inspiring pieces of advice. I know for sure that the way to eternal happiness is not easy and needs a lot of sacrifice. Challenges, hardships, difficulties, humiliations, etc., I know they become a part of it. As they say, the closer are you to GOD, the more temptations will be hounding you. But I'm not afraid at all 'coz I know now where to go now when fear strikes me. And I'm happier than ever for this new life that I have.

I'm so happy that you have come to appreciate the value of making others happy and to be realistic about material things. I know what you mean though. My husband has had a hard time with this. He wants to do so many things in order to make more money and to be rich. That I think is his goal in life to become rich. The problem though with that is a person usually sacrifices everything else in the process. I'm hoping that my husband will come to realize that family and spending time with them is more important than gaining riches at the expense of your family. It can be hard to balance it all but it is a good thing for us to work at it.

Sure it is difficult at times not to be lured with the material wealth that life can offer. But I realized that in spite of working so hard to get what I want, still I don't feel any satisfaction at all. The yearning is still there and doesn't end at all. Then, I learned that what I lacked is a good relationship with GOD. And now I feel at peace with my environment unlike before that I can't help but got to have what others also have. I hope and pray for you as well, that your husband will come to that realization one day. I know it needs a lot more of convincing and influence from the people around him but I believe in the power of prayer. We just have to fervently ask it from GOD and for sure it will be granted in HIS own perfect time. Thanks for sharing as well a little of your story. GOD bless us all!

I am glad to know that you had the realization to become humble and respectful towards others. Some people really do not realize how much harm they can do to others that they think they are gods that need to be glorified.

It sounds good that you are all knowing with all your predicaments. When you said that you changed for the better you is really something that you should keep. You once been done selfishness and now you are offering kindness. So when you allow God to changed you then you realized what is the real meaning of life. I think you are really happy now for you are so proud to share this story of yours. Wish you all more happiness and prosperity as God leads your way...

I think it is the world we live in these days, everyone out for themselves and not caring about each other anymore. You see it at work jobs are short and it is each person for themselves.People are desperate.I think you were only fitting in to survive so don't beat yourself up.I used to help everyone and was walked all over.Pick the people that you care about and look after them.I am not saying turn your back but be more careful. My husband has still got his job driving for a major supermarket so we can still pay our bills ,the amount of old friends who have crawled out of the woodwork to ask for help. When you find out they have been feeding their pets and going down the pub and smoking. No way am I going to hand over cash help to people who waste their money. That does not make me bad it makes me sensible.I do give to food banks and charities .I am not mean and really appreciate what I have got.We are one of the lucky ones only because we have been very careful and go without the luxuries in life in able to survive.I am glad you are feeling better about yourself but don't get silly.

That's good Now you realized the importance of listening to others. Being considerate is one of the best way to show that we care for other people and not ourselves alone. Take to listen and give them chance to express their feeling is enough to make them feel they are also important.
