Today my friend called and she said that she didn't feel good, she had stomach pain and fever with headache. Later, I talked with my boyfriend and he also told me that he has a flu with his stomach and hedeache! I don't want to get sick again and I will avoid both of them and anyone else who might be sick this weekend. My boyfriend knows that I don't get too close to him when he has a flu because it is certain that I will be next! I will make a soup tomorrow and bring him some, but I told him that kisses and hugs are not allowed! I want to take care of him in my way though! I will avoid to meet my friend because she said she has fever and she is in bed for 3 days already! I am call trying to call and get updates but I won't go by the house. I hope wveryone gets better soon because the holidays are coming andwe don't want to be sick! Do you avoid your friends when they have a flu?

It is useless to avoid people who have a virus. The virus is in the air and you get infected before someone gets ill. I assume you met your friend before he got the flu or? If these two have it the biggest part of the world will. Which does happen since the flu-viruses are travelling through the air and are even changing (smart as a virus is). which means that if we over here make a "vaccin" against a virus and use it this winter, it's based on a flu 6 months ago in the other part of the world. Which is also the reason why so frequently it does not work (the vaccin). There is nothing wrong with getting the flu btw. The more you had the less you will get (in future) since your body makes anti-viruses against it. A healthy life style (food, drink enough, relaxing time, enough rest) will help you to prevent to get ill or not get the flu. Since fact is: some people have the flu for 6 weeks, others only for 3-4 days and there is a group who never gets sick at all no matter where they are or stay.

I usually have the flu for 3 days but I am really careful for a week until I fully recover. But I get sick too easily and my nose is running all winter. This has been the same since I was a child and I am eating a lot of fruits and vegetables for vitamines. I did meet my boyfriend the day before he got sick and we watched a movie. Do you think he had already transfered the virus to me? I have the impression that it is more possible to get sick when the other person is recovering, and a few days after recovery. That's when the virus is spreading. I feel fine so far, I hope I will stay this way! :-) Thanks and have a wonderful day!!

I don't mind visiting a sick friend for as long as their illness is not such a big deal. But with the flu, I am fine to visit them and have a small chat.

It's good that you don't mind visiting them! The first time my boyfriend was sick I had just met him and we were dating for a while. I went to his place with warm soup that I prepared at home and some medicine from the pharmacy. He thought it was really weird that even though I was taking care of him I wasn't going too close! Lol I don't know how it looks but the truth is that I don't want to risk staying at bed for a week and I am surethat they understand it!

I dont avoid anyone who had the flu. Normally I go to help them out. Maybe bring them some chicken noodle soup or something. But there is an old wise tale about placing an onion by the persons bed to suck up the impurities in the air and get them to feel better. Its just a thought. I know its an unconventional way of handling the flu, but it seems the more we mess with medicine the bigger and badder the virus's have become. Maybe getting back to simpler means of handling said issues is the way to go.

It seems here in Malaysia, the flu virus have make many of my family members sick too. I was down with flu and cough for more than 3 weeks. I am okay now but my second brother is have flu and lost his voice too. We supposed to go back hometown last Tuesday but we postponed it till he gets better. Yes, better avoid this flu bugs as the holiday season is near. It will definitely be a dull holiday if one sleeps on bed and have to avoid spreading to other loves one too.

I know that if I get sick I will loose all the Christmas festive spirit and celebration with my family and friends! I don't want to look distant or anything, but I am sure that they both understand it since they know I am very sensitive with viruses!
