My life in Accountancy

December 13, 2012 1:20pm CST
I don't want this course; my parents just pushed me to take this up and I wasn't able to do anything about it. Before enrollment, I cried a lot, knowing that I could not take up the course that I really wanted. During first trimester, I did good in accounting, I always got perfect scores or if not, a high score. I loved accounting, by the way. But that love for this course was just for a while. When our second trimester arrived, I no longer study accounting; I realized that I am really not for it. Whenever I see those numbers and problems, I think of my future and I tell to myself that I am not for it. It is still our second trimester, my plan for the third is to shift cousrse. I dont care if my parents would be mad at me but I have to do this for myself

Yes,you have to choose your course for what you are interested in.If you don't have any interest to do Accounting, then you can choose other subjects. But whatever you do whether it is any subject, you have to create interest and you have to develop a liking to that subject.

Thank you very much. But for me, it's still between the interest and the comfort :)

Yes.You should do that subject which you are interested in.That is the only way through which you can pay attention to that subject.

I think you are doing good and must talk to your parents about what you actually want to do. I see that accounting is also very demanding and it is going to give you a good future no doubt but if you are not for it then you know better about it. I wish you all the best in whatever you do. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

You have many years to live and there is no reason at all why you should do so being miserable about your choice of profession. If you do not wish to pursue accountancy then you must stop now because you will never give it your best attention. You should find a course that you wish to pursue and that you think you can sustain and tell your parents that you are moving. If they truly care for you future they will understand; but if their reason for you being an accountant is actually for themselves, So that they can boast about their clever child, then they need to be persuaded differently. Good luck.

Shifting courses makes your mind boggling. Some parents would like to have good course like nursing. Nursing is demanding in the Philippines. If you want to shift course, just face and tell your parents why you shift course. It is your choice to choose your course not parents' choice.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i can understand your situation and i know there are many students like u in the world who are pursuing studies just for the sake of their parents but they are not happy from within. I think u should confess in front of your parents very honestly so that they get to know what your areas of interests are. Talk to them politely and make them realize that u can do well in the area u choose and wont disappoint them with your decision. What say?

Thanks sir for that very wonderful response. It motivates me so much. Yes, I'll try to confront with my parents about it.

Hm, that's a good thing I think because you really know what do you want in your life. So unlike me who doesn't know which I really want. Haha I actually just depend on other people's opinion. My advice to you is that you really have to think about shifting your course a hundred times before actually doing it. Its up to you and it's important that your parents agree about it, because they know what's best for you.
