Opening shop in the future.

Hey guys!
I am thinking on opening my own shop in a shopping mall most probably. When I saw my brother's shop which is going to open tomorrow at ST3 in Kuching, I feel extremely want to have my own shop. Seeing the awesome look of the shop, all the light, so bright inside, and having a lot of stocks and imagining having a lot of customer inside, I feel happy about that.
But, I have think quite a while. I can't think of one specific item to sell for my shop. He ever suggest on opening a restaurant and he will be the chef and I'm going to be the cashier. But think about that, it will be a hard time for him to cook for every single second inside the kitchen of the restaurant. I prefer a relax time having the shop with a lot of stocks instead of food.
I have a thinking on making cakes and sell them like Secret Recipe. But to think that I have to do every single cake everyday morning before opening my shop, and if there's no one come and eat it, it will all gone waste. It is not a good idea. So, now. Opening a shop selling clothes maybe? But there is too much shop that sell clothes and I don't see much shop got a lot of people go and buy. I'm thinking on designing my own clothes and sell. But, I don't think much people want to go and buy?
One more idea. Selling shoes in my shop? It sounds hard though. Since there is a lot of shop like SOS, BATA, and a lot more. Well. It doesn't seems like a good idea as well as selling clothes in my future shop.
Can MyLotters tell me some more idea that might make my future shop be successful with lots of people in and out my shop? Thank you!

It is nice to go into business when you have the right capital and the time to really do it yourself. You have to look for that thing that moves you into action, find your passion and use it as an inspiration for your business. It is not good to go into a kind of business you don't know anything about. If you are good in food, then go into that. If you have passion for things and fashion, you can have a boutique, etc.

I would suggest that you open a business based on what you love doing the most. But if you cannot identify one particular thing, you might as well consider food business but as you have said, it requires lot of work. But there is no easy work. Competition is really a part of the game. It's up to you to find your own strategy.
Personally, I would love to open an internet cafe even though I know there are lots of this kind of business in our place. I am thinking of having an internet shop, copy shop, and everything about doing projects in school can offer. The idea is that when you open a business, we should see to it that when a customer come inside, we should never say no. So if we are offering this line, we should make sure that we have everything in connection that particular line.

You are right. There is no easy work. For me, I think I would love to open an internet cake house or some sort of things like Secret Recipe. Even though it requires a lot of work, if people like it, it would probably be worth the hard work. Besides, this might be risky that maybe the cakes will went mold. That is the only thing I'm scared about. But I think sometimes it worth trying right?

Having a business is fun as long you know you enjoy what you are doing.
Make sure you are familiar with the kind of business that you want to start with to avoid troubles in the future.

Thank you, I will find out what I love to do the most and put it into my business world. I would love to enjoy it. Probably the internet cafe or internet cake house will be the one I'm going to enjoy even though somehow it will be risky and need a lot of work.

Good idea about staring a business. But you need to be very careful. You should select the idea according to the place and the demand. How about internet cafe?

Hmmm. Internet cafe sounds nice. But if like internet cafe or maybe my idea on internet cake house like Secret Recipe as I say, it would take up a lot of work on doing them right? If it's just cafe, we must know some sort of toast bread like those Kaya & Toast shop or some sort of things like that. Do Starbucks sells food as well? If they do, it probably somehow will waste a lot for those which isn't sold out to other people right?
