Where are you getting this information? This is so stupid and a waste of time! Researchers should be using their research money to do something that is meaningfull, like how to find a cure for diabeties, cancer,AIDS and Althzeimers! This is what I think of this!

I haven't heard of this research before although I'm not dismissing it. I know a few people who are old maids and I never heard that they suffer from such diseases as cancer. The people I know who has cancer are the ones who are married and have children. Maybe it has something to do with the location hence the research isn't conclusive.

The Papsmear Test is a diagnostic procedure to detect any irregularities in the cervix. It should be done annually. But by doing so, it does not necessarily mean that you can avoid getting cancer. The advantage of the procedure is to have an early detection if a person has it so that the person can be given medical attention right away.

I've heard that emotions play a part is whether or not someone might get cancer. If it is true that emotions are a factor, then I wonder if there is a calculated reason for these announcements. Telling someone in a particular group they are prone to cancer can put emotional stress on them. Of course, It seems like everything causes cancer, so I ignore all these announcements.

I think that since these single women do not give birth, the cervix is not "used" and some "dirt" which might come out along with giving birth remains in the body. It is the best way of how I can explain it as told to me by a doctor.

Because they most likely have had more menstraul cycles compared to those who have been married, having children all along. Also companionship helps keep you healthy in more ways then one.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. I do not know how much truth is present in this research but i think we should not bank on such research works. I know when woman are single then a lot of thoughts go through her mind but that does not mean that she will be prone to cancer.
If she is strong willed and is positive by nature then no disease can touch her. I think after such research many single woman would laugh off the research while some would be alarmed. he he he.
What say?

your idea that strong willed people and positive persons are not prone to disease is really interesting. germs do not test for strong will; they test for immunity and resistance, and susceptibility. yet, strong willed people have more capacity for building immunity because they can fight back faster.

I dont believe this. There is really no rule of thumb on a person that is more prone to get cancer. Unless its colon cancer, then I have read that people with family members have a higher chance of getting colon cancer. The only way that this could** with emphasis on the could, would be that they are not so aware of special care for their-selves because they don't have a family. Many time people with a family or someone that loves them will try to be healthy and lead a longer healthy life to be with the person that they love longer. This is only a guess anyways, I have not found anything that will back this up with concrete evidence.

I don't really know if there is enough data that would either be able to prove or disprove the statement that you've made here. However, I can speak from my own experience in dealing with elderly people and it seemed like those ladies that had never been married and never had children were actually more healthy in the very late years of their lives than those women that had been married and were widowed and who had been a mother.

Hi Shavkat!
The researchers will not publish this information if they have no basis. But of course it does not mean that those who are married are cannot have sickness like that. We all have to take good care of our health.
Have a nice day!

If there are two people to share, then you will be able to reduce a lot of burden and tension by depending on each others strength,so there is a tendency for single people to be prone to cancer. If you are a prayerful person you will get the guidance and strength to face any tough situation. So either have a deep relation with god or have a partner filled with the blessing of god.
