Barcelona beat Athletico Madrid 4-1 in the top of the table clash. Real Madrid wasted more chances to collect all three points with a 2-2 home draw against struggling Espanyol. These results meant that Barca go 9 points clear of 2nd placed Athletico Madrid and 13 points clear of 3rd placed Real Madrid!! With this big a lead are Barca already champions of La Liga at the half way stage itself!! Mourinho has almost conceded the La Liga title after yesterday's game!! Cheers! Ram

Tito Vilanova indeed has done a great job succeeding the works of Pep Guardiola. Barcelona this season has returned to its superiority, after a season with no trophy last year, the last days of Guardiola. But somehow, I feel La Liga became boring with this Barca's superiority. Well, maybe because I'm no fans of Barca nor Madrid. Or els, I'm no fans of La Liga

Actually last year they did win the domestic cup competition the Kings Cup. Yes, generally La Liga is a two horse race at best. This season though it is just a single horse race with Barcelona way ahead of the rest. Cheers! Ram

Unfortunately, Athletico Madrid is also 9 points behind. I do not see them overcoming this lead and going ahead of Barcelona. I think it is a straight fight between Athletico Madrid and Real Madrid for the second position. Cheers! Ram

Jose Mourinho has come out in the press and already conceded the title. For one as proud as Mourinho and one who is deemed arrogant, this is a big step down and would have been a hard bullet to bite!! Cheers! Ram

And the progression from Guardiola to Villanova has been very smooth. Something for Roman Abrahamovich to take a look and learn from!! Cheers! Ram

A bit of a late response, but the point gap is pretty much the same: Barca are 9 p ahead of Atletico and 16 p ahead of Real Madrid. I don't think anything can happen that will make Barcelona lose the title. They've been wasting some points lately, but I think that's just because they can't concentrate any more. Loosing these points may sound the alarm and remind them they still have lots of matches to play, but I think they will win the title without many upsets. Their minds must be more on the Champions League matches right now...

I think already three european titles are decided at this stage. Barcelona will win the La Liga, Man United will win the EPL and Bayern Munich will win the Bundesliga. All three have run up huge leads. Cheers! Ram

Both the Madrid clubs are the closest challengers and both clubs have conceded defeat. There is a possibility that this is another of Mourinho's mind game but seeing the gap and the form Barcelona is in, I think the La Liga is more or less wrapped up.

This time around I do not think it is a mind game. Probably Mourinho is readying himself for life after Real Madrid. I think Ronaldo's claim for the title of the best player will take a beating this season in line with Real's fall in performance as well. Cheers! Ram

Wow, I can't believe Atletico Madrid lost by such a high score. I think that there is no doubt now that Barcelona will be the winners. I know that Madrid could still catch up, as there is a long way to go, but Barcelona is way too good of a team that to drop that many points in the remaining games.

I think for Real to come back in the contest, Barcelona would need to have a major slump in form. At this current moment this looks unlikely. Cheers! Ram

Messi scored two goals against Athletico Madrid op - Messi scored two goals against Athletico Madrid opening up a nine point lead
Barcelona seems to be invincible this season. They have not just been winning matches but won with big margins, even against some of the supposedly big teams. Messi is one of the reasons why but it is the strength of the whole Barcelona squad that makes it possible. Nobody cares too much about the injury that kept Cesc Fabregas out of the side as there are more than adequate replacements waiting on the wings to take the slot. Even all the great David Villa could get from that game against Athletico Madrid was just a mere 10 minutes. Barcelona is going to win the triple this season.

Yes, Messi just scored his 89th and 90th goal of the season. Incredible player. He still has two more matches to round off and astonishing 2012. Cheers! Ram
