Very nice dogs. Adored by many. Especially, after that movie "Air Bud." However, I keep hearing that the latest puppies of that breed are rather aggressive. Is that true in any way?
I have noticed that younger golden retrievers at the streets of Toronto are rather grouchy, but it could be anything - owners, area they live in. So, I don't know what to think about them. Could you, please, explain it to me? What could possibly go wrong?

Hello ivan88,
Things like that happens when some dog breed popularity grows overnight.
Imagine when the movie "Air Bud" was released, thousands of people wanted to have a Buddy at home. And guess what? There were only a few on the market.
That was the moment when the "evil" backyard breeders came into scene: they started to breed Golden Retrievers with no health tests. Those were probably dogs with unstable temperament, and the litters inherited their genes. Those puppies gave birth to another generations of unstable dogs and that made most of the unregistered Golden Retrievers become so different.
BUT! Don't come to the conclusion that ALL Golden Retrievers are aggressive. There still are dedicated dog breeders that made everything possible to keep intact the gene pools of the correct Golden Retriever.
So, if you want a Golden Retriever, never buy it from the pet shop or from the mall. Search for reputable Golden Retriever breeders, write to them about your wish and they will put you on a list for the next litters of true Golden Retrievers.
