Speedtest results don't match the actual connection speed I see

Finally, I got my wifi installed. This is supposed to be give me at least 1Mbps of connection speed. When the installer finished setting it up, he accessed speedtest website to show how fast connection is. And, my eyes glared seeing it go up to even 2Mbps. I had a great time on the net that day. However, the next morning, the connection got slow. It was as slow as the USB dongle I used to have. But, when I checked on speedtest, it showed more than 1Mbps. It's really not corresponding to the actual speed I have. Is that speedtest website really accurate? Have you used it?

Hi jureathome, on account of the deathly slow internet speed I pay more to replace the 1Mbps to 4Mbps. I could hardly watch movie and listen to music and they were all off and on with the former. I don't believe the speed test figure as I was asked to close all the tabs or pages except the testing tab while having testing That's why the figure shown is still appearing as the same or more as I what I have subscribed. The speed will go down if the more tabs are opened. It will be very much slow if surfing net during congested hours with the 4Mbps subscription. I believe the internet company doesn't control the quota. They still keep on promoting the internet service packets to as many customers as they will get. They never care about the more customers using the same amount of quota the lower the speed of the connection will be Have a nice day

That's the bad thing about business. I hope things won't get that bad for me.

I've never had any problem using the speedtest website. It corresponds quite accurately with my Internet speed. But I seldom use the website to check for my Internet speed because my ISP has provided a tool for me to check my Internet speed and that's where I would go to check my Internet speed and it's always very accurate.

Good that you have your own speed meter. It's always more convenient to have one like that.

I haven't yet encountered discrepancies each time I check my internet speed using speedtest. Wifi signals can sometimes fluctuate due to several factors like say multiple pcs using the connection, or your location in your house. I think the better way to check your internet speed is to disengage first your wifi and connect your laptop directly to the modem, then run the speedtest. or sometimes you just need to turn off both your router and modem for a few minutes, turn it on, then check your speed.

You mean, take out the connection to the antenna? And, just let the wifi modem run on its own?

Hi, I can't even load the site here, I don't know what is happening. Sometime ago, it is a good speed tester, now I doubt its ability to do so, I've stopped using it altogether.

Oh, that's not very good news. I wonder why the installers still use it, if that's not very reliable.
