We were driving home from an event and our granddaughter, Samara, asks Bompa if she could use his iPod. We are grandparents (Bompa and Nana) and like to tease her so this is how it went:
Samara: "Bompa, can I use your iPod?"
Me teasing her: "I want to use the iPod"
Bompa hands the iPod to me.
Samara says: "no Nana, 'I' want to use the iPod"
Me "I know, you said 'I want to use the iPod' and you're right! I do want to use it!"
And without a beat she says "SHE wants to use the iPod"
Bompa and I start laughing and she says "You shoulda saw that one coming!"

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i must say Samara is an intelligent girl and i think u should not have teased her that way. Ha ha ha. But i think she should thank u that because of your constant teasing she was able to show her intelligence and maturity. I think such small moments are very precious and special and i am sure whenever u would be remembering it, u would be getting a smile on your face.
What say?

She is 6 years old? You are certainly right, I do smile when I think of that and other things she has said!

Oooops! It was supposed to be an exclamation mark, not a question mark.

i guess she figured she needed to teach you silly grown ups the right expression/ words for asking. some little ones are unbelievabley and exceptionally intelligent these days.
