My husband is always drinking soda, cola, energy drink or softdrinks. Its a bit better than beers or any alcoholic drinks. He doesn't drink those kind of stuffs, thats what Im thankful for. But I think there are still some disadvantages of drinking those beverages. I'm just worried maybe later on he will have sickness because of it. Do you know any side effects or sickness causing those kind of drinks? Or are you also a colaholic?

Well people have already given some good answers as to why soda is bad. It also actually bloats too so you will find if your husband stopped drinking it he would lose some weight (don't think it happens to all but I know someone who stopped and his tummy went away) One recommendation I can make is if he has a craving for soda, tell him to eat a piece of fruit instead, it's still sweet and eventually he could be off the soda. It's the darn sugar that's the addiction! And not to scare you but did you know tumour cells love sugar? Sugar is what helps them grow, not that I'm saying he has tumour cells or anything but it's something I learned recently.

Drinking soda that often can lead to diabetes. It can be acquired and it is a very expensive health conditions. In addition, there are some secondary complications if the person has diabetes.

On the contrary...sugary drinks or sugar in general does not cause diabetes. Being overweight and having diabetes run in the family may cause you to be diabetic because you are overweight. It is a misconception that eating sugar causes diabetes.

As I have said, it can be acquired. Definitely it runs in the genes, it could also be autosomal recessive or dominant.

Not unless he is dibetic or it runs in the family. Ever since I was a late toddler I've been drinking soda even when I've been pregnant I've had soda. Nothing has happen to me yet and I'm 24 years old. Yes it is bad for you but if you drink it in moderations it's okay for you. My parents drink soda all of the time and there age and they are both pretty healthy.

i don't think its healthy.this drinks contain lots of sugar and additives that in the long run may be bad for his teeth and also maybe his kidneys because they keep having to filter what is in the drinks.i also keep away from taking such drinks because i kept getting coughs and tonsils and more so if i took them cold.encourage him to take water and maybe fresh fruit juice.with the kind of illness that people are getting through chemically processed food and drinks its better to be safe than sorry.

Intake of colas occasionally doesnt affect your health but addiction thing is not good. Try to decrease his intake of cola as it contains high sugar level which can cause diabetes or you can replace the normal cola with diet one.

Cola addiction is my biggest problem. I found no way of getting out of it and i dont see any harm being addicted to Cola. May be i am wrong but it is good to back yourself on what you do. I even find difficulty in eating lunch or dinner without cola. It might be harmful but i can't help myself.

I am a colaholic too but there are side effects. Lately when I drink Coke I tend to get serious acid indigestion so Ive been laying off of it. Its easy to become addicted to the cola taste and Im not entirely sure why. I always joke that Coke probably still puts trace amounts in there and when you drink it in massive amounts you get addicted. I can literally FEEL my body sigh and relax with happiness with even the first swig. Still, I know it is not healthy and try to limit myself. Sugars and caffeine are a real concern for health issues. Not to mention the artificial flavors and colors. What hazardous chemicals are used to make those things?

Soda, in general, is pretty bad for you. There are numerous reports of the damage it can do to one's health. Here's a good site with 9 good reasons not to drink it. www.rodale.com/facts-about-soda?page=0 And there are many other sites as well www.empowher.com/healthy-eating/content/7-reasons-eliminate-soda-your-diet Some medical websites will say it's not that bad for you but of course that's because the healthier we get the less we need doctors and the fewer patients they have = less $$ in their pockets. They criticize some of the studies that have been done, but proof is proof and common sense should prevail.
