Janine Tugonon - 1st Runner Up in Miss Universe

Janine Tugonon truly impressed everybody with her elegance and beauty. I was amazed also with her cobra walk. She made every Filipinos proud. After a long road in the miss universe beauty pageant, she ended up as 1st runner up. Here's how she slays the question and answer portion:
Question for Ms. Philippines: As an int'l ambassador, do you think speaking English is a prerequisite to being Ms Universe?
Janine Tugonon's answer: For me, being Miss Universe is not just about knowing how to speak a specific language. It's about being able to influence and inspire other people. If you have a heart to serve and a strong mind to show people then you can be Miss Universe.
For me, it was a very magnificent answer. It is the best answer that happened during the pageant.

I wont mind USA winning but her answer..... how the heck dd she won with her answer.
Even Australia have a better answer than her. I guess Trump wants higher ratings in the US, because Miss Universe dont have high ratings in the USA since Americans dont take it seriously, unlike Latinos and Asians who takes it seriously.

Hello there CaptAlbert!
We Filipinos really take it saeriously when our candidate didn't won the title. It is a big deal for us. However, Let us just accept the fact especially the contects has ended.
Just like savypat had said, Being the first runner up is something to be proud of! Imagine, they are more than 80 participants all over the world and our candidate was among the top and crowned 1st runner up.

Miss Usa's answer: "I will never start a fight with my siblings again" *crickets* I dont know how that answer got her victory, he also tripped int he evening gown portion. Oh I just realized that she have hometown advantage. 
at least 3 years in a row our contestant is in the top 3. I guess better luck next year, the net girl we will send will be in huge pressure.

It will be a pressure for our next universe. But, we Filipinos are fighter and we could definitely surpass whatever it is. I really loved how Janine answered in the question and answer portion. She is great!

Janine has indeed brought honor and prestige to our country. She, along with Nonito Donaire, were able to put the Philippines back on the map. This goes to show that our country is a force in the field of beauty and elegance. Congratulations Janine! You have made every Filipino proud!

Janine is very beautiful and elegant... and she did the Philippines proud because of the way she carried herself... her answer during the question and answer portion was also great... it is just sad that she did not take home the crown... but first runner up is already and honor...
Getting in the top 5 three years in a row is like a dream come true for Filipinos... i remember watching Ms Universe when i was young and it was very disheartening when year after year we did not even get to the top 16...
Kudos to Janine for making us Proud...

It is really impressing and overwhelm that our representative were able to make it on the top 5 in consecutive years. Janine is almost there to grab the crown though I could smell a little bit politics within America on their decision. This contest reminds me as well the American Idol between Jessica and Philip. And now we know that our representative is more deserving than the answer of Ms. USA that I can't see the point at all.

I didn't get the chance to watch the whole pageant because I was at my sons Christmas party. But upon reading this post, I must say that Janine's answer was very smart. And if her answer is better than Miss USA's answer then why the heck did she win over our Miss Janine Tugonon? Is there really a "home court advantage" going on with the judging. lol. But anyway, we can never change what has been done and it is final. Still I feel so proud of Miss Philippines.

WAsn't able to watch the pageant, I was just following the news being posted by many on Facebook. I am really proud of the intelligent answer by Miss Philippines. Bagging the 1st runner up is something for every Filipinos to be thankful for.

Thank you for this update! I had no time to watch it but I will certainly find videos from YouTube. All I can say is that Congratulations to the winners, most especially Miss Janine Tugonon. She just did a very well-done job, not only for herself but to the whole nation.

Phillippines you made all us proud of you.. filipina's possess grace and beauty that can captivate everybody's heart.. no wonder we won 1st place in the miss universe pageant plus the fact that filipina's are also witty regarding the question and answer portion.. once again congratulations to you ms.
