It's not even Christmas yet but I have neighbors here who are already starting to blow firecrackers and other explosives. I just hate it when this happens because one of my three dogs become really scared by this. It happens every year. He would run and hide himself and won't eat. This pet dog didn't eat lunch because we have crazy neighbors who are lighting firecrackers. I intended to feed him tonight but again, the same people are at it again blowing firecrackers. This means that my dog will never be eating still. I really hate people who abuse the occasion and find thrill in blowing noisy explosives. Do you have the same problem with your pets? Do share your experience.

I do have this problem and for the dogs I give meds that calm them, but the cats I don't like to give anything and they just hide until the noise is gone. Just another instance where the human world offends the other animals.

Fortunately our cat never goes out now, she is 19 bless her and wants a little peace for the remainder of her life, during firework season, which is November 5th, we have neighbours letting their fireworks off for weeks after the event has passed, they are soooo noisy and some sound like cannons, it makes me jump and cringe, so I can imagine the noise is disturbing for the animals. Some People can be very selfish and don't think of this, sadly.

Yes, Wolfie and these people are insensitive to everything. I wonder what they have in their heads.

We had a dog that would totally freak out due to fireworks. She has since passed, old age. But I kept the Bach Flower essence Rescue Remedy on hand, the liquid, not the cream. I would give her a few drops of it and she would settle right down. The thing that makes me most nuts is that all the kids live on the other end of the neighborhood and just walk up and down the road shooting fireworks into everyone's yards. They don't even care if you are standing right there in front of them. By all means, celebrate the season, but be safe and be respectful to the property of others.

Cutie, I wish we could celebrate holidays with love instead of for things. Less danger, absolutely.

Carolyn, I wish that we could truly celebrate Christmas and the New Year with simplicity and less noise and danger.

I also get irritated with those people who kept on lighting fireworks. In our place, even those children play with fireworks. The nearby store sells fireworks and they don't, mind selling them to those little children. What I really hate is that they will light those fireworks just in front of our gate. I scold them because my son is sleeping. I told them if you to play with those fireworks then do it far from our home or in a vacant place so they don't disturb any people. I wonder if their parents know what they are doing. I hope they will not have an accident by doing that.

God, thanks for reminding me. My puppy will be super scared when the New Year comes. I guess your neighbors are way too excited for the seaosn. then again,so are people decorating every inch of their house with Santa decorations. Usually, some of the dogs here will be experiencing their first New Year. My only concern is the two puppies. But the otehr one (not mypet0 is a little energetic so he may not mind. Mine's gonna be locked in a room with me after he watched the show in the balcony. Perhaps, I already need to threaten my sibling about blowing the car horn in the same occasion. .

I don't have pets but that terrible to have to endure the sound when it frightens them so much...But here in my village people are not allowed to set of fireworks at random like that perhaps the authoritie can do something about tham... Good luck with this situtation....

If there is any ordinance regulating this in our place, well we don't know about this and people are ignorant about this. But as for me, even without the ordinance I would still use simple common sense that these things are dangerous.

I have never heard of setting off fireworks at Christmastime. 4th of July, Canada day or Victoria Day perhaps, but never at christmas time. Amazing! As for dogs, i remember my dog Penny. She'd get real scared when fireworks would go off. I think fireworks should only be allowed on certain holidays, and should only be set off by professionals.
